  • In the hospital again!

So I finally got my laptop in the hospital , they found a nice blood clot in my entire left leg. Looks like I'll be spending Thanksgiving in the hospital, freaking sucks thought it was a sprain in my left calf but it turned out to be blocked all the way to the groin. Oh well, hope everyone has a good turkey day.

        Re: In the hospital again!

Are you currently taking any warfarin? What are they doing for the clot?

I bet they are treating you with heparin. That's a powerful blood thinner. Be careful with bumping into things it can lead to nasty bruises.

I'm glad though that they found that blood clot, because if it ever breaks off it can go to your lungs and cause pulmonary embolism, which can be very serious.

Take care of yourself. And, you're not the only one that won't be celebrating Thanksgiving. I have to be somewhere myself. God Bless.

Look on the bright side, it's your left leg so the lead foot leg is still intact. :)

Good luck and hope for a speedy recovery.

FWIW Warfarin = Coumadin. Nurses and physicians always talk brand, but in the pharmacy we use generic names primarily to prevent confusion.

Lovenox and warfarin/coumadin are both blood thinners, the lovenox itself is primarily used to help treat deep vein thrombosis/blood clots. We go through both of those meds like crazy in the hospital here.

Glad you're getting taken care of, hope everything goes well with the surgery!

Lovenox will definately leave a nasty bruise on your belly. Usually when you take this they make you skip the coumadin. Lovenox is used prior to some kind of procedure. But to use both would increase your INR. What's your INR now?

I figure they are trying to thin out your blood in order to dissolve your blood clot.

I hope they do a surgery on your heart soon so you can get off from some of those meds., but I think you might be on blood thinner (to some degree) for the rest of your life, even after the heart surgery.
