  • Well, that worked out well

We came home from Christmas Mass to find the garage filled with smoke. This is our water heater. The heater is about 17+ years old. Time to buy a new one.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Atleast it didn't burn your house down. That would've sucked big time.

Christmas miracle! New water heater is a couple hundred bucks, but you can't replace a lifetime of accumulated stuff in a home. Look into a tankless option!

House is 9 years old. Have gone to annual inspections by service techs (I trust) of gas furnace (attic) and gas water heater (garage).

I wish we had a gas water heater...

That reminds me of a comment I saw while looking up water heater information. Some person wrote: "Help! I can't find the pilot light on my electric water heater." ...and they were serious.

Like the guy who was buying an electric chainsaw and asked where the gas goes
