my 94 had a 2 piece and I didn't realize until I pulled it off to replace that the mid section was rubbing like crazy.

            Eeek.. Paid $8700 for it?

I bought a 2001 z28 camaro for $9000 with 30k miles on it, Sunset Orange metallic, stripper, 1 of 1.. 3 years ago!!! It gets 32mpg on the highway (better than my firebird does), has z06 rims, drag radials, drag suspension. I've gone a best of 12.01@112mph... Went to Virginia to buy it.

And ya paid $8700 for yours? That must be one really.. really.. really nice firebird you got there....
I paid $6500 for my firebird 7 years ago... had 70k miles, mint florida car bought from a old lady.

Moral of the story.. Travel to buy cars ;)

Edit: Saw the Pictures... Its real clean, very clean indeed!! Thats a real nice firebird ya got there man! Enjoy it and take good care of it!!

32mpg??? What is that a hybrid???

The best I've gotten with mine was 31mpg and it's auto and that's with a SC and I was driving it like an old man. Manuals get better mpg though. V6 manual is way better than V8 manual anyday.

So you paid $9000 with 30k, you must've bought it directly from a private owner. A dealer or a lot would charge you a lot more. There's a WS6 with 30k selling for 16k at a mom and pop lot. Sometimes private sellers will take the lost out of desperation.

My neighbor sold his '95 Viper for 10k and it only has 11k on the speedo, because he was unemployed and he has a ton of bills to pay.

hehe.. Thats not even the best I did with her, it averaged 32 mpgs on the highway. When I drove it home 850 miles, I was getting 38-40 mpgs on the way back. Just gotta know what your doing. Drafting behind 18 wheelers plays a big part in it.

My camaro had a yank 4k stall, 344rwhp, 3.23/lsd, lid, full exhaust, etc. So in the city, it was only getting 16-20mpg, not as good as my v6 bird. But the LS1 trumped it so hard on the highway. I could never do better than 30mpg in the v6.

It was from a private seller, and no he wasn't in desperation.. These LS1's really aren't worth all that much. I would never pay 16k for a LS1 fbody. Its all about location, go south to buy prestine cars for cheap. Never buy from the north unless that car is marked down considerably.

Don't believe me? Go to LS1tech.com and start a thread what these cars are really worth.. Everyone will chime in saying a LS1 fbody is worth between $4k-$12k depending on the condition.. $4k for ones with 120k miles and up that need a bit of work (camaros generally).. and 12k for mint condition, sub 30k miles, that have been heavily modified or completely unmolested.

There are some exceptions ofcourse. Mint condition WS6 T/A's are worth $16k+ if you find one with sub 20k miles and in absolute MINT condition.

If he knew what he was doing he could of got $20k-$28k for it all day long. Even if he was in desperation. Hell, I would have giving him my camaro, my firebird, and 10k cash on my end if this Viper was truly mint.

38-40mpgs on an LS1 - not trying to insult you or anything and I certainly don't want to highjack this thread but I going to say :bs: to that. Again, that's not a Hybrid. And you certainly don't want to get behind a semi-truck because of the rocks and pebbles they spit out from the rear.

My bro's C5 the best he's ever gotten was 27mpg and that was on a 500 mile trip to Vegas. He average 24mpg on regular HWY. Vettes are lighter and more aerodynamic than V8 Camaro.

As for the Viper - nobody was jumping on it so he had no choice.

I am calling BS on a auto ls1 getting that.

My dad's c5 was capable of low 30s for a tank mostly highway. babying it, but that is because it sat at like 600 rpms in 6th gear going like 70 No way in an A4, even drafting.... and yes I have drafted.

I got mid 30s in my G6 drafting, and geared for it. Still very unlikely.

Id rather not have rocks thrown at my car causing pits in the paint and risking a windshield.

C5 has more Aero but also suffers from more driveline loss.

We got an estimated 32mpg once from TO to London at 120kmh(70mph) in 6th gear in a 2000 WS6,BTW we had just washed and waxed it;)
