So, I've used this picture of My Firebird as my signature photo for a long time. But below is that same fence - viewed from the neighboring house's backyard.
The backyard used to be beautiful - but then the elderly husband died several years ago. His wife was very reclusive - she would never talk with us and never come out. She would not let anyone in to keep up the yard and pool. She died about a year ago.
They owned their house free and clear - no loans or mortgages of any kind. No relatives have been found yet. Unless someone is found, the house will some day be subject to a government tax lien and eventual sale to pay the property taxes. In the meantime, I have to go in there every so often to cut down the bushes adjoining our property and to rip out the vines that are overrunning everything.
The pool is teeming with tadpoles.
