Re: Houston Pontiac G8 Meet @ Coffee & Cars
I took the SLP GT and a buddy took his G8 GT to a Cars & Coffee over in Detroit here last weekend, lots of nice cars there too. Kalamazoo has one every month also which is much closer and we plan on hitting that up. Benefits of working at a performance parts dealer, lots of nice cars here, so we'll have a train of my 'bird, the G8, a 383 z/28, and 2 Mustangs going most of the time. Hopefully our turnout is like yours up there ^, def. a fun time.aka FreedStyle

Re: Houston Pontiac G8 Meet @ Coffee & Cars
Hehe, the Houston one is a knock off of Cars & Coffee, since for some reason we don't have a chapter of it here. So we just call it Coffee & Cars, it's always been huge, but since we've moved to the bigger location it's grown a lot. We've fill up all of the 2,000 parking spaces available in the current plaza since the last couple of shows. This time around we had a current F1 car demonstrated (missed taking a pic) and Lamborghini has brought in and demonstrated the Aventador LP 700-4 the last few shows. The sad thing is as the show grows so do the "incidents", it's not as bad as the supra nationals meets (ie. TX2K12) where there are pretty much constant fights, accidents and arrests. But we do have 1 or two accidents/altercations virtually every Coffe & Cars meet since it's gotten big. This time a NSX got smashed into (just a little) and some idiot in a truck "didn't see" and wrecked into a $120,000 Porsche 911 pretty hard, I hope he had high insurance limits.
I'm sure yours will be huge though, those Cars & Coffee meets are always pretty good.Last edited by OneEightSeven; 04-08-2012, 06:33 AM.sigpic

Re: Houston Pontiac G8 Meet @ Coffee & Cars
While there is an "official" Cars & Coffee in Detroit, the one I went to is also a knock-off..along with the Kzoo ones. There was only enough room for 150 cars at the very most without overflowing into other business' parking. Notable cars here though were a brand new (still Dealer plates) Fisker Karma and the first produced 2013 Roush Stage 3 Mustang with Manufacturer plates on it. We were just down the road from Chrysler's headquarters / Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.
Pics from the Kzoo C&C past meets have shown several Lambo's and a handful of Ferrari's with room for a lot more parking, so I'm looking forward to it later this month. Somebody here has a new Aventador also, an R8, a few GTR's and an NSX have been spotted around here also. It'll be my first time there, so I'm hoping for a real nice turnout.aka FreedStyle

That's really cool that they're showing off an Aventador at your C&C too. I like the new V12 engine they designed. Those are pretty rare right now in the wild and it is a pretty cool car. The one we were shown here wasn't even owned by anybody, Lamborghini reps just brought it as a demo. Apparently the waiting list for these is huge for our area now. They must be making good sales at these things =D.sigpic

I heard somewhere along the lines of 3 years on that waiting list.. The guy that owns it is the owner of a programming company (S2 Games) and has a pretty stout list of cars in his garage. I'm glad I stumbled upon the C&C meets, particularly the Kzoo one since it's so close to me, because I've been looking for something like these to go to that you didn't have to be part of a club, but still had nice cars and met on a regular basis.aka FreedStyle

Re: Houston Pontiac G8 Meet @ Coffee & Cars
The GXP is just too ridiculously priced a the moment. They sold so few of them that people want damn near original sticker for a really nice one and way too much for even the mid-mileage ones. I would just grab a GT like I did and mod that, you can be quicker than a GXP fairly easily since it's not like trying to mod a 4cyl or V6. Headers, intake, tune and a decent cam bump you up 100whp+ from stock. You're in the mid/high 12s with just headers/intake and a tune as long as you know how to launch. If you go with a hot cam and a stall you can see even more gains. Get heads? Even more, 450whp is possible all motor for very reasonable money. Add turbo or supercharger and sky is the limit as long as your fueling and bottom end can take it. There are a few guys building up 9 second GTs now.
Essentially what I'm saying is your GT can be quicker than the GXP for the same money it would cost you to buy the GXP. All you're missing out on is some badging and the manual trans option. I was looking at the GXPs, but honestly I would have just bought a C6 vette instead for the similar money. I ended up falling in love with the G8 though, so I got myself a GT instead.Last edited by OneEightSeven; 04-09-2012, 01:38 PM.sigpic
