My dad is 64 years old and just divorced his wife (my mother) of 40 years. Despite the two being fairly well off she never let him buy anything fun, save for a couple electric guitars he rarely if ever played. My mom has basically spent the last 40 years training him to be a worldclass cheapskate (undeservedly) so he's always settled for commuting 100 miles every day in a beater Civic that burned a quart of oil a week.. Well he's since ditched the civic (sold it for a cool 200 bucks), but old habits die hard so it took many months of convincing (ultimately over a year) to get him to finally buy his dream car.
He's always put his wife and three kids ahead of himself, especially in terms of material possessions. I could go on and on about how much he deserves this, which is his very first sports car (and I mean that in the loosest sense of the word). Here's the only pic I have of it so far, sitting ahead of my 'bird... His is, uh, the one that isn't a V6.
He still acts like he doesn't deserve it. He's only had it out of the garage a couple times (he bought it 2 months ago) but the huge smile on his face when he's behind the wheel tells me how much he loves it. I'll get more pics of his and mine as soon as I can get him behind the wheel again.
Just felt like sharing.
