Check the resistance of your key. Buy a resistor that has yhe same resistance as your key and splice it onto the bcm

      • I tried reconecting the wires and still nothing. I hear the pump priming and tge starter click. But the gauge is still dead and the security is still on. Anything else I could try?

        • I think I will have to buy the new ignition rellace it and take it to a gm dealership and have a new key programed. I got the quote at 200 just for the new key bieng reprogramed.

Is this the safety feature so the car won't get stolen?
The security's light was always on untill now when everything is just dead.

Yeah if you don't have enough juice the starter will just click

                • So I called onother gm dealership, asked him how much for the new key he said 150 plus taxes. And then asked him if its the ignition cylinder the reason the security light is on and he told me yea and said if everything is dead just hear the pump prime and a click its the ignition cylinder is not reading the key.

If its the security system doing it, just bypass it... there's plenty of writeups.

                    • Yea I think I know what your talking about, the whole add a resistor to the circut right?. But still I'd rather fix it the right way

It was just an option to get it running quick. I'd rather do that then having to deal with vats ever again. Just add a killsswitch :P

I've been thinking about doing that haha, or adding a push start but that would complicated with out having to turn the key at the same time. Thats kinda wack imo. But everything takes time

                          • So I have the car back together, new lock cylinder in it.
Now I only have one question and its about the key.
Is the key a computer chip or a resistor?

Its a resistor on the key.

                              • I thought so. I called a lock smith and he was saying it was going to take 150 $ to get the key done and 2 hours to program the chip and in it. I was like a chip? Its just a resistor, I thought it was ridiculous saying it was going to take 2 hours to program it.
