        Only issue is money , the build won't start start untill spring. Really. Hopefully my curent engine won't crap out on me before then

        • Up date guys I know its been a while. Sorry about that been busy, working and saving up for this and I still am. Also been talking to some one on buying parts from them . And been doing research and building uo the cart with parts so when I have the cash its all ready set to go.

          Other than that here's what else has happened.
          Some of you who live in Texas may have see all that ice. Well that day was crazy for me.my car got stuck in the street...yes a regular street. I tried to get out my self by putting traction controll on. (I have a limmited slip diff) and just slowly increase the rpm but only one wheel would spin , that was odd for me since I have the limited slip. Some people came to help and in about 20 my car was out.also I had to go out and pay bills and the road was covered in ice. My car scraped a lot at stock height. No major damage thank fully. On the same day my serpentine belt fell off. I put it back on no problem. (It was really worn out). Then a couple of miles later it fell off again. I ignored it since I was already home. The next day I was going to put it back on. And it was gone . So I put a new one . 2 days later I notice one of my head nights is out along with one of my turning signal lights. So my head lights will be upgraded to the better ones you can get of lmc truck (look forward to that its coming soon). The the next 2 days I notice I ran out of steering fluid so I re filled it. And today it was gone again. So I take a look while its runing and have some one turn the wheel and you see a streem of it pour out from the presure side. Today I went to get that part it will be put on tomorow.

              • All right guys so I need you experience guys help on this. I need a repair manual but the one that tells you evey thing. Not the ones I can get at the local auto parts store but a factory one where it tells you every single thing. Any idea of the exact name I try searching and the same ones come up and they are the ones from the auto stores. If I can't find one I might just go with all data but I would ratber have something I can hold to read of off.

                  I've been using a Haynes manual for all my work, that along with this site and LS1Tech have been all I've needed to work on my car.

                    I don't know what they look like but they even tell you the torque specs for you liscence plates. They are that detailed. I was going to buy one at an auto parts store I have a friend that works there, huge discounts I get lol :D and he said don't get them tbey don't go into full detail explanation on tearing down an engine and to get the gm factory ones. I tried searching my self but the same things came up, so I thought I might ask you guys

                      • Need some help on dignosing my car guys. I just need it runing for one more month and that's about it , it will be parked as soon as I have a reliable daily. And the engine , and parts gaskets ect. Come toghether.

                        Now as of a couple of weeks ago you guys might of seen my post about getting a reusable filter for dirt cheap and it was literaly new. Any ways I decided to put the k&n oil stuff since I've heard that what your sopose to do. So I did. Now from then today till about 4 o'clock my car started choking. So I pulled out from the toll way checked it out seemed fine during idle. Today so far has been the warmest in weeks by the way. After it seemed fine I went back on the the high way and again started choking. As soon as I got to carolton tx where I needed to pick something up on the way there I babied it there going no faster that 60 and nothing over 2000 rpm. It got there ok. I poped tbe hood and took a step back and thought what could cause this. You need air, ignition and fuel so an engine can run. I ruled out fuel pump since I had replaced it no more than 1 and a half years ago. If it was the injectors tben they would just cause a misfire or just not work any more so all there's left is. Air. What controls it is the throttle body so I pop open my airfilter lid and all I see I'd the k&n oil all over the lid packed on tbe corners of the filter and in the cupler and pvc pipethe pvc is literaly molded to and oval shape insted of ot original for which was a circle.so much for taking the heat huh? Lol .....so I clean it off as good as I could and off the first sensor that it would come in contact the most which I belive is the air temp sensor. Now I drive for about 4 miles and it starts choking again so I pull over and take a look again and is fairly clean so I do onother wipe down and I look at the screen of the throttle body and it looks dirty so I pop it off and inside there ia more. I clean it off as much as I can and the maf sensor also. Put it back together. Turn it on and runs fine again. Now I drive for about 10 more miles and then I'm going about 45 mph and try to move a bit faster and it just died. So I pull over try to turn it on and it wants to and does for half a second and turns right back off. The check gueges were on since it lost power and the alternator was not spining and putting power back into the battery. Also the check engine light was on but always has due to a knock sensor in bank 2. But then again I'm there again wiping what acces oil there is wiping with towels and blowing off the aensors as much as I can. Turn the key and turns on like nothing. So I dontb take my chances and head to my parents apt since its literaly .01 miles away. So I'm on the way and decide to floor it real quick to see if it will pick up and it does dies off and lick up real quick like if it had studerd. I don't try it again , I just get to the apt and park it and rev it but nothing after that happens. So now a here wonering if now I have to clean the sonsor off and throttle body off from the inside and check my plugs once it cools down. And see if that would help. But I don't know if it will.....

                        Any suggestions guys? What it could be, what it is, and how to fix or try to fix it ect. Any help would really be help full thanks guys!

                          Since it started after you oiled the filter its most likely oil on the maf and its making it not work right. I would use maf cleaner from the auto parts store to clean it real good and go from there.

                          • Yea that's what I will do tomorrow , as soon as I wake up I will walk to the parts store Nd get a can of it and maybe if I can borrow tools from a friend. Il take off the throttle body and ean it completely and see if I see anything in the upper intake .

                            • So I'm here at the parts store the car made it here and died the last couple of feet getting there made it by uts momentum. Now I clean it with the maf cleaner cleand the throttle body as good as I coukd with out removing it since all I have is a Philips and flat headn along with an adjustuble wrench. Trued running it turned on and ran then it started getting sloppy and shut bavk off. I asked the oarts store if they can pull codes and the newest one of course was the maf low voltage. I checked the wires and conections and it is all ok its getting power so the last thing is its a bad maf sensor. I'm waiting here for my friend with his firebird ti see if swaping out the maf will help. I hope it doea and if it does I will head to the salvage yard hole to get there ontime before tbey clise buy a used one and put iy back together and hope for tbe best.

                              • 130 $ minus the core charge later the car is runing like a chap. New maf sensor in it. Had some new codes although , the o2 sensor from bank one runing rich . I'm thinking it might be from tbe maf sensor from before? Ilet ut go through the cycle check and see if ut still shows if it does I will look I to it. Also my tranny is slipping in 4th gear looks like a rebuild kf that coming in tbe next year or I might just do a a4 to m5 swap folowing the write up from here.
