Re: going to sell the camaro

My car has less than 300miles on it. Unless i bring it here to california i'm most likely going to sell it.

2 kids and a rear seat delete would be my guess. plus its not like you can go racing around town with your kids in the car unless youre an idiot

I would be quite upset with myself if I added up all the money I spent on it. I used to keep track of it, but when the number got to more than I paid for it I became mad and stopped.

I stopped counting around the 3x mark, but I'm sure I made it past 4x. I got about 5% of that back when i sold it.

It's all relative I suppose; if you're dding and have been for awhile than obviously the maintenance and upkeep is going to be more expensive than if it's a second car. If it's a toy and a hobby piece; keep it, can't get much cheaper than a v6 domestic car for a toy...

If you really need the 4-6k our cars are realistically worth than that's one thing, otherwise why not just keep it... Can't imagine a well maintained, good condition F-body will depreciate much more in the coming years...

Kind of saw it coming honestly. Once you lose interest and start taking parts off of it, it just becomes more realistic to let it go someday.

It's my conclusion that 90% of buyers could care less how much or little you have into a car--it's still worth blue book to them. The other 10% don't have any money.

I don't mean to scare you though; that's just my experience.
Agreed. That's why I pulled pretty much everything I could to sell separately and put it back to stock. Anything that could not be pulled from the car is considered extra for the next owner.

As for the market... I'll just say its not the same was when I got the car 8 years ago. People want either the cheapest POS to last them a year or two, or they want a clean car for the same price as that cheap POS on CL.

This is true, It's because we're in a sh*t price bracket. Times are changing, modding for all cars as a whole is going down. People are tired of being harassed by cops, and emissions headaches. They're building new cars with better audio equipment so you don't need to buy aftermarket stuff, cars are coming with built in Nav, cars are more efficient and faster from factory. People would now rather get something new with no headaches and not mod it, where as the people that are willing to spend 5-6gs want the world along with the car.

I remember when I was selling my crappy neon beater for $1000 and I had people emailing me, get it certified and e tested and I'll take it for $800...really? would I sell a car for 1000$ if it didn't need some kind of work done?

Realistically, for most people a factory C5 vette, or Hyundai Genisis is fast enough, they see no reason to mod it. There are very few of us who define ourselves in the mods we do to our cars, and that goes for every car brand out there, not just F-bodies.

I was having a convo about this the other day...I don't even see that many ricers on the road anymore...I hate ricers, but part of me loves them. Makes me know that other people are modding out there, no matter how ****ty and dumb they might be. Now you're seeing all of that disappear, and if you don't think so, compare what you see on the road now to what you saw 8-10 years ago...BIG difference.

Re: going to sell the camaro

yep the 2 kids are the reason for not driving it. i put the rear seats back in about 3 years ago. i do take my son with me when i take it out for little curises but since i have a 15 month old daughter also...i can't take her in it. so that means i can't drive it to the mall or where ever. can only take it when the hubby is home to watch her.

i'm only asking 7k for it....so we will see.

Damn... location changes values of these cars so much... I paid less than 4k for mine almost 4 years ago. If it goes, best of luck to ya with your next venture...

Re: going to sell the camaro

Wow... never thought I would see this post. Honestly you need to make more of an effort if you still enjoy the car.

I had my beater 2k Camaro to replace my wife's Cavalier, while we were saving for our first house. My kid loved it. I still feel sad when my 2.5 year old asks for "daddy's red camaro car"

I sold mine and picked up a crown vic, after we had my little girl. being 6'5", a rear facing and forward facing seat in a Camaro is just too much. The one kid was not problem. You might be able to pull it off since you are a petite girl. For a DD, its crazy, but an occaisonal fun trip it was alright. Besides my wife took over the G6, and does most baby hauling. I do weekend trip stuff in the Vic, since it holds strollers and other stuff better in the trunk.

But I still have my green '85 Camaro. Which makes me sad, its still off the road, few hiccups and issues, I just didn't have time/money to deal with with new kid, and working like 6-7 day work weeks at work. I have some time now, I need to get it back on the road. Even my 2.5 year old has been asking about the "Daddy's green car"

also, even with a kid, you cna row through the girls a little and give the kid a cheap thrill.

I was a little sad selling my 2k, not my fastest, not my best looking, but the car was.... loyal, I got it cheap, served me well, was cheap, was fun, and even sold it for more then I bought it after 20k miles and 2 years. Really was just the perfect all around car for my situation at the time. Sad to see it go. :(

here is a quick clip of my son at a park.

He was saying "daddy's car goes vroom vroom fast"
