  • What's a good drill?

I don't have space for a compressor so I'm thinking about getting a powerful drill that will do almost the same work as a compressor in removing high pressure/tension bolts.

So what's the best drill out there?

my dad has an old electric impact that I've used several times in the past when I didn't have an air compressor available. I believe it was Milwaukee brand. Air was still better, but it worked good enough to get by. There were a few times when I still needed a breaker bar with a long cheater bar on some of the tougher nuts/bolts though.

DeWalt makes good stuff. There's always the overpriced snap-on tools too.

I have the snap on 1/2" and 3/8" electric impacts and their sweet especially for junk yard trips. At work we have a 1/2" dewalt impact but it doesn't seem as powerful as my snap on.

If you go with Snap-On, make sure you get a good one.. I bought a Bluepoint (Snap-On brand) air impact and it's pretty much junk. I'll use it to run nuts and bolts on and off, but a lot of times I have to hit them with a breaker bar to start/finish them..

Never had any real issues with any dewalt drills.

I got my Dewalt Cordless Impact Gun model DC820KA with 2 Bats charger drill and case for $60.00 on sale at Home Depot last summer.

This thing is awesome and can even do my 5th Gens lugs that are TQ'd to 140lb ft:tup:

I have used a lot of drills. Both my friends in construction and I feel that Milwaukee's new brushless motors in their drills are amazing. You can get some good deals on them as well. The batteries charge fast, and last long. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Brushless motors are the way to go. Totally revolutionized the RC industry too. The first thing that would go bad in them are the bearings and those are easy peasy to change.
