  • I'm thinking about it

Possibly getting rid of my Camaro. I'm running the numbers, and I think I could manage what I want, my dreamish car if you will.

    Problems with the Camaro:
coolant leak I can't seem to find
rear quarter panel dented by some see-you-next-tuesday who hit and run
missing the lens from tail light(darn Lubbock roads)
popping sound from the clutch pedal
    performance :p

I sort of want to get a new car, it should hopefully be problem free.

I guess it depends if you can afford it, I know I'm never getting rid of my Camaro so I bought my truck to DD. I like knowing I won't have any problems for awhile(knock on wood) with a newer vehicle. I also like having 2 vehicles so I can take my time to work on either vehicle or have something done by someone else. The reason if I was you and you like your Camaro, keep it, its not going to bring in a huge down payment and you have something to work on from time to time. Just depends on how much you like it and what you can afford. Good luck.

Well i guess I wouldn't have to get rid of it. It's not worth much so trading in such an integral part of my life. I'm planning on a Camaro ss 1le. I'd have to order it.

Just based on your description, around my area your car would be lucky to get $2000 from a private party. Quite a bit less if you trade it in. V6 fourth gen's, Camaro's in particular, don't rake in the cash when you sell them, even if they are near mint condition. If that $2000 or so makes the difference on whether or not you buy your "dream car" then i say go for it. My dream car happens to be an '02 Firehawk m6, I settled for my '02 v6 m5 bird at the time because that's all I could afford and it got me pretty close to my dream car. Later on I bought a '00 Trans Am that looks like a Formula, and while it has about the same performance of a Firehawk, it still just doesn't do it for me completely. I love fourth gen Firebirds, but I still feel like I just "settled" on close-enough instead of going all the way. My v6 (SLP GT) will never see the hands of another owner, but the T/A may very well be sold just because it isn't quite what I wanted. Unfortunately, when it comes to my toys, I have to think more family oriented, so I'm very much leaning toward my #2 and #3 cars, a G8 GT/GXP, or an '04-07 CTS-V. Family cars with performance, fhe G8 was once quoted as "the ultimate Dad car".

Yeah, I know I won't be getting much on trade in or private party. I've bought my "settled" cars. Now I want something that I picked and chose myself.
