Been shopping around for an air compressor. Sears has some good ones. What do you guy think of Craftsman 3 gal. air compressor that produces 135psi for $99?

It portable and it will fit into my small space. I don't have much experience in this what should I look for?

Depends on what your going to use it for. A three gal tank is a small reserve of air. You also need to look at the cfm output rating of the compressor to see if it will keep up with the tools you plan on using. With a small tank and a low cfm output the compressor will be fighting to hold enough air pressure. I don't know what the compressor ratings are but something to look into.

I have a Husky and its a stand up compressor (I think its a 26 or 28 gallon). I like it alot, has been doing great for about 8 years now. I guess it depends what your going to use it for like suggested. The most I've used mine is using air tools. Now I just use it to air up tires and such.

In the up coming July 4th holiday I plan on working on my Truck by dropping the gas tank and also removing the bed. I might change the clutch in the tranny. That would mean dropping the transmission and driveshaft.

And sometime this month I plan on changing the timing belt on the hyundai. This would mean removing the crank pulley.

Perhaps in the future I might take out the engine from the 2.8 Bird. I don't know if this engine will last long because it is well over 200k.

So would a 3 gal. 135psi be good enough to do these type of jobs? Thanks

I'm sure it will work to power air wrenches but with only a 3 gal tank the compressor would be running a lot to keep the tank filled. If your going to use an air wrench to remove the crank pulley bolt buy or borrow one that has some good torque behind it. The crank pulley center bolts are usually held on with some heavy torque. I had to upgrade mine.

Alright, It was pay day today and I head on down to sears. I got the Craftsman 7 gal. tank, 135psi, 1hp air compressor.

I also bought the Craftsman impact gun that has 400lbs of tq.

I got both of them for $134. What do you guys think? Good choice and deal?

Next pay day I'll start buying the other stuff like sockets, air hose, and air pressure cleaner.

I already bought this though. I don't have room for a 21 gallon one. This one barely has space. I almost bought the 3 gallon pancake one, but for $10 more dollars I opt for this.

So is it a good decision on my part?

the 21 gallon isn't any bigger than my 8 gallon! lol except height wise it takes up more space.

I don't know anything about the craftsman, but I found my 8 gallon small... You cant die grind or use cut off wheels for the most part or the compressor runs all the time.

It is good for stripping off tires and such though
