  • Finally got to drive the bird around

I got it smogged today, but it failed because I haven't driven it in awhile and plus it has a new battery which affected their smog machine from getting a reading of the stored code. So I have to drive it around.

Today in Nevada it's a 120* and my AC wasn't working. Actually the belt would slip really bad from the AC compressor. I have the double sided belt for my supercharger. I'm thinking of going back to single side belt. AC is a must where I live.

Also, this has been a problem I've had for awhile. I have no problem doing cold start, but once I turn off the car and try to do another start after 30 to 40 minutes or so the car has a hard time firing up. I noticed the FP was low. I already changed the fuel pressure regulator on this and it's still the same. Any suggestions.

Do you have a walbro 255 fuel pump in there? Or is it stock? Still looking good.

Yes, i have the walbro 255. I'm thinking of changing that. Would you recommend that same pump.

I'm going to change the ect and see if that's the culprit.

Whats your fuel pressure at idle? Then at WOT? Ect wouldn't have any effect on the fuel pressure. Did you do the trap door method? Yeah I would do another Walbro 255.

I saw 38psi. No difference if it was open throttle or not. Awhile back it was 40 to 42psi.

I do have stock injectors and I only have the vortech FMU.

Yes I did the trap door awhile back.

That is low fuel pressure - how old is the pump?

            1996 3800 Camaro - 13.43 @ 100.77 mph

Yes, about the same years as Steve. I've had ot since 2002, same time as my supercharger. I'll get it changed then. Do you guys still recommend walbro or is there a better one.

Also you need to ditch the fmu and stock injectors and go with hptuners and 36lb injectors(33lb) on our system. Then you can ditch the trc-1 timing controller and just use hptuners to dial in your timing. Just a thought. Also do you have a wideband O2 to see if your running lean?

Just thought about it and your fuel pressure should be in the 90's or over 100 psi at WOT since your using a 6:1 fmu bumps your fuel pressure 6 psi for every pound of boost so your fuel pump is toast if your not going over 50psi at WOT.

                      Good info there Steve. Thanks

Yeah, since I don't live in California anymore I can ditch the soft tune. Yes, I do plan on getting a wideband.

I ditched the bucket and used hose clamps to put it together. Just make sure its tight, when I first did mine the hose came off and had to go back in, thats why Im glad to have the trap door.
