in some cases its not what you know, but who you know. i never really learned in school because it wasnt hands on and "REAL TIME."

im starting an internship soon for something i went to school for, for half a year. i'll prolly be able to learn much quicker and better this way.

its like someone asked me not too long ago. Would you rather be taught by someone who is actually successful in their field of work, or someone who stayed behind to teach it? i dont know about you guys, but i'd rather be taught hands on by someone who is already there.

My brother didn't go to college and I don't think he regrets it, but he didn't want that out of life... he just wanted to work and put money into his car.
He might regret it a little bit if it would have guaranteed him a better job.. but I think he is happy right now.

I have driven forklifts since I was out of high school. And I have had jobs that do just that, but living in a midwestern city where there are a TON of distribution centers around, driving a forklift isn't a high paying job anymore. I do regret not going to college, probably could have gone back to school. I just feel now I would have to completely start over with everything that I have done since I graduated. I feel like the last 5 years have been a waste.

it all depends, i think alot of times it is luck if you land a good job, whether you go to college or not. but you have a better chance if you go to college. and about the internship thing, there are lots of degrees that require internship to graduate. And more often than not, teachers have experience and are or were successfull in the field they teach.

Honestly I think college is a little overrated a little. Sure you learn alot of things, and they are helpful int eh workplace, but you learn alot of it being in the field and working on it.

I am sure I coudl have been taught alot about beeing a mechanic but I picked a TON of stuff up on my own, just because a hobby I enjoy.

If work places out their had a little bit better training for a job, I think alot of people could do jobs that peopel think require college.


NOw a big thing... That piece of papaer, shows that you are dedicated, and you were bound to learn a couple things in 4+ years. Alot of people don't have the discipline to go through and finish it(hell I don't have the discipline to do it in 4 years [img]smile.gif[/img] ) That certificate alot of times, shows you one up over the guy that doesn't have that certificate.

Didn't go to collage or finish high school.

The Navy at that time was taking non-grads and no GED was needed. I got my GED after 3 yrs of being in.

If I had it to do over again, I would have buckled down and graduated and went to collage. It wouldnt have given me the experiace that I have now. But it was the more intelligent thing to do.

If you guys can I do highly reccomend getting at least an AA at a Community College, its not too rough, but not a breeze. Jsut an extra piece of paper to put on a resume.

Perfect example girl got hired a little after me, and she makes ~$40k a year, here degree has nothing to do with our work, except its in the school of business. Either way this girl is a moron, everyone knows it, but she makes more money because of the degree she has... TOns of peopel are way more qulified then her, but since she still makes waaay more then them.

College isnt for everyone - I guess it depends on what you want to do with your life and what your goals are.

I worked in a warehouse since I was 14. Decided I didn't want to be doing that my whole life so as soon as I graduated highschool I enrolled in college lol.

It all depends on your desired profession.

But the kick is, if you cannot make it in your desired profession, can you fall back on something else? Do you have the skills/requirements to do so?
