Leakage/light motors

I've seen convertibles for sale in my area, but I am staying away from those due to the cost of repair if ever needed, and possible leakage problems.

Does T-Tops have any leakage problems? I really want T-Tops, and so far that has been a must on my purchase, but I just thought about the fact that I knew nothing about possible problems with them.

Also are there noted problems of the headlights on the firebirds motors burning out? If so how much does it cost to have it replaced?

T-Tops can leak. They can either be adjusted to stop it or the weather stripping may need to be replaced if that is the issue.

Firebird headlight gears stripping is a more common problem then the motors burning out. Although both do happen. If the gears strip you can buy metal gears and install them yourself or do a temporary fix by fliping the gear over.

I really wouldn't let those things be a deal breaker on buying a firebird if thats what you want. When you go check the car out flip the lights on and you will hear it if the gears are starting to go out.

Anything can leak, even hardtops (due to the window not sealing with the weater stripping). I have T-tops, and 9 times out of 10 they don't leave. But every now and then, after a good wash or a hard rain, the passenger side leaks a bit. Doesn't bother me much, I just dry up the spot with a towel and wait for the sunny days to take them off.
