• New job = new car, what kind?

Alrighty so i've got a new job as a Service Advisor for a Toyota dealership. Based on my current budget I'd be able to afford payments on up to about $40K car. Now I'll be keeping my truck as a daily driver so I'm looking for a pure toy car.

So this is where y'all come in, I need some suggestions on what to look at. Please no LS1 suggestions, or anything like "well only spendd 15K on this car and put money into it so its super fast". I dont care about being the fastest thing on the road, I'm looking for that head turning factor. Cars i've thought of so far are things like a used NSX. What else can you guys (and gals) come up with?

C5, 6-speed... Don't get a Z06, just a C5, maybe do a few mods bolt ons... I know its an "LS1 suggestion" but go drive one.

ok ok, let me try this again :
      Please no LS1 suggestions
its not that i'm not considering vettes, i just know how GM biased this board is, so i thought it would be much easier to go ahead and assume i'd get alot of c5 and fbody ideas...

i'm also looking at used SL500's as well as M3's

          </font>
haha I know, I was editing my post... Not jsut being on GM nuts, because I try no to... But a nice looking C5 turn heads...

          http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...05_61_full.jpg

been driving this, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more heads then any of my camaros ever did, even with open y-pipes, scaring people... And its a blast to drive...

Not that I know your financial status, but looks like you are spending quite a bit on cars, you can get a lower mileage C5 for a good price.

NSX, ehh... I mean I see a few around but they are not that impressive imo... seems like they are starting to show their age to me, same with the popular tunner cars. (supra, 300z, 3000 GT)

I heard there are some good deals on leases with Audis... Little talk on cz28.com about it. Chatted with a dude with an audi last night for awhile, forgot the number but had a 340 hp 4.2L v8 and the exhaust sounded nice.

I would call it a nice car but a head turner? ehh....

M3 woudl turn some heads but would have to be a new one and those things get pretty pricey as well, was talking with a guy that was looking to get one but he said they were going for like $15k over sticker.

as far as the financial stuff. the only payments i have right now are on the GTO (truck was paid for in cash) and i'm going to be selling that to my father. So i'll still be able to drive it from time to time, and wont have any payments on that. So the only car payment i'll have will be on whatever it is i decide to get. the audi your talking about is RS6 i belive, very nice cars. and i have found several decent milage m3's (newest body style) in the 30K's

btw - no tuners (supra, wrx, 3000gt)

since you work for toyota how about a lexus IS 350? they run 13s stock and they are in your price range.
95 black 3.8 camaro, Intake, Pacesetters, Flowmaster 80 series, accel plugs and wires, B&M shift kit (eh could be better), hopefully a highflow cat soon. and a bunch of appearance mods.

What does your own Toyota dealership have in its own inventory, it's right under your nose.

I'm sure most dealerships take trade-ins of other makes and models. This recent gas gouging has some American loyalists look into gas sipping Toyota models and trade them in.

My definition of a toy is a 1987 Buick Turbo Grand National or 1989 Turbo Trans Am. They still facinate me.

But if you want a headturner, look into a Hybrid. Everytime I see one of those I turn my head to say WTF is that?

I say get something nice, classy and most of all, comfortable to drive. My next car purchase will be along these lines.

The new IS350 (really nice car, check it out on their website), an M3, or even a 350Z or the infiniti version of it, Q45 or whatever, to be a little sportier.

For some reason everyone keeps suggesting you buy cars you specifically said no to. Thats funny.

ahh you are losing the GTO?

well then the M3 sounds liek a better option... I'd still get a C5 and enjoy the extra money. BUt imo don't get a NSX.

I still think the C5 is good, if your going for a fun car might as well go full sports car.
