I know the military has used this type of bonding for some time (rea advertisements in Naval Proceedings mags back in the late 80's)

also doubles as weight reduction ;)

I remember seeing a special on the discovery channel or something about super strong adhesives. The metal it was bonding together would fail before the adhesive would.

You would have to wait till enough of your skin cells died, and the glue just falls off.

This brings to mind the Lotus Elise, all aluminum chassis. however, instead of welding the aluminum they use a super strong adhesive. this is because when you weld aluminum it weakens the surrounding aluminum. Really cool looking chassis.

We use construction epoxies all the time to glue structural steel plates together. It save a ton of time & agrivation over traditional welding.

Nate, I should score you a bottle of some proprietary stuff they developed at the national composites lab in Dayton. The bond strength tested over 50,000 psi.
