I actually have a radar detector, and it's worked fine for me. It'll detect a cop using his radar on cars ahead of me, and if I see that, I slow down. Although yes, I shouldn't be speeding, but in some cases, it happens. I've actually driven by and waved /gave a nod to the cops that are just sitting there clocking people. And for speedracer, jamming does help if they see you speeding. Tickets are based on fines, and the more you go over the speedlimit, the more the fine. Thus, if they don't know how fast you were going over the speed limit, they don't know how much to charge you, thus case dismissed. I love hearing those words. :) Although I agree in the existance of the Hwy Patrol, I believe that speed traps are scandalous and just plain ****ed up! If a cop is cruising and he sees someone speeding, then go right ahead and pull him over. But to have somoen sit there and hide....tsk tsk tsk. It's just a money making machine/scheme and all you cops out there no it!

(And I don't want to hear any reason from you cops either as to why my above statement is wrong, unless it is REALLY LEGIT! Then I'll be open minded to hear it)

Get escort8500x50 and ZR1 laser shifter. From my knowledge this is the best combo.

We don't need Domestic Violence for this question. I know for absolute fact that actively jamming any radio signal violates federal law.

Actually a Police officer can find you guilty of any number of violations related to excess speed without ever getting a Lidar or Radar signal from your vehicle. For example I was driving in excess of the posted limit, the officer pulled me over and advised me he didn't get a radar reading on my car, but he knew I was speeding, and proceeded to write me a ticket for an improper lane change ticket which exceeded the amount of the ticket I would have gotten if I had gotten a speeding ticket. In my experience if they stop you doing something stupid, they can find a reason to issue a citation.

Hey Timbo, you didn't fight that? That's pretty much why I always have a tape recorder in my car, just in case cops say stupid $hit like that. If I caught a cop saying that he knew I was speeding, but wrote me for a different ticket, I would go straight to his commanding officer.

That's for RADAR, not Laser. Laser jammers are perfectly legal, because the jurisdiction of those bandwidths of a class 3 laser (allocation, etc) does not fall under the FCC, but rather the FDA, and they don't care if you jam it or not.

Not that I reccomend speeding (it's bad, mmkay), just trying to set the facts straight.

Dan is right on the Laser info. Lasers fall under the FDA, not FCC, it not a radio transmission, it's light. Supposedly, light close to the same wavelength can jam the laser, but it has to hit the exact same place the signal originated from. SUPPOSEDLY!! Laser jammers do work from what I've heard and read. Radar jammers off the shelf however, do not work simply because they are illegal. Anywho...

I don't know about out there, but here, unless the cop agrees to it, it isn't legal.

I wanted to record conversations at work for reasons I don't want to get into. But my own lawyers told me I couldn't do it in secret.

It all depends on if it is a two party or one party state.

In a one party state only one person in the conversation has to consent to being recorded. In a two party state both parties (or all parties) have to consent. If you are part of the conversation in a one party state then you can record it.

Most states are one party. I believe there are only 12 states that are two party.

I wouldn't let the officer know you are recording though. They will make you turn it off. It isn't legal for them to do so but they have authority over the situation and can abuse that authority.
