Wireless Router question >>

I want to play my ps2 online, but my computer is on the 2nd floor hooked up to my high-speed cable internet, and my ps2 is in the basement. I don't want to run any wires.

I know I'll need a gaming router for the ps2, but will THIS ROUTER be good enough to send a signal from the 2nd floor to the basement without too many complications?

I don't like going into best buy or comp usa because they never tell you what will work at the least amount of money, they just try to sell you the most expensive brand(s).

Any wireless G router should be able to do that as long as there isn't anything in the floors that would block the signal. I haven't had very good experiences with linksys routers, but I don't know anything about that specific model. If you haven't already read up on the router online. Look for forums to see if people have any problems because reading product reviews on stores sites doesn't usually let you know too much.

Look into getting a WRT54G. There's a firmware hack that increases the signal strength by like 100xs

I have a DI-624 at my parent's house and at my house. Computers connected a floor away from router seem to get a low signal, so I don't think they could go 2 floors. Just my experience.

I have a Linksys WRT54G and it seems pretty good, but I had the B version of it before and it started requiring a reset at least once a day. Tech support kept putting me through pointless procedures so I finally realized I wasn't going to get anywhere with the warranty and replaced it. The range is okay though.

Where I live at school has a D-Link DI-524 and it seems to totally suck. Where I can have a good signal at home pretty far away from the router, the signal from the D-Link starts out okay, but drops to almost nothing and the requires that I reconnect if I'm any decent distance from it. It's usually half the price of the Linksys or less, but I wouldn't buy it.
