Now, just wait until you see how much your insurance goes up...
Welcome to hating "the system"!
A legal system backed by insurance companies that want ridiculously low speed limits so people get tickets so they can "rate you up" for being "high risk" even though what you were doing was PERFECTLY safe. Then they use the mass media to brainwash people into thinking that "speed kills" and anyone who ever exceeds the speed limit is trying to kill kids crossing the street in front of their school. Add it all up and you have America.

never heard of that, i usually just go online and get the fee amount then pay it with my card{except for waxahachie, i had to drive like 65 mins to their courthouse}

Its not about justice. Its about revenue. Why else would they have a thing on the back of a ticket (differs by state) where you can go online or call a hotline to find out how much the fine is??? You don't see that for real crimes like MURDER do you?
"If you have committed first degree murder with an illegal assault weapon, $4,000 fine, if you have committed first degree with a legal, fully-registered hunting rifle or handgun, $2,000 fine..."
I'm sorry, any "crime" where there is a standardized price list is not a crime. It is a way for local juristictions to raise revenue without having to raise taxes. Then they turn around and say they're protecting innocents from those terrible horrible monsters who are speeders. Give me a break.
Ever heard of a quota? Its because fines are baked into their budgets. They NEED to write tickets to raise revenue. Where else do you think all that money would go? Do you think its a bonus to the city? Hell no, that money's already spent in their budget forecast LONG before the citation is even written.
$110-130 for 10 over
$180-200 for 10-20 over
then like $280 for 20 over
moving violations in the $90-110 range
I think its beyond revenue, I think they just make the fine steeper and steeper to keep peopl from speeding...
if it was a $10 ticket there wodul be alot more speeding going on. I hell I have paid over a grand over the years on tickets and I still speed all the time. Hit people hard with money and they start to come around and see its not worth speeding.

I got a ticket once. Speeding in a "constuction zone" (15 miles of cones, no workers). 50 in a 40. Fine was $49, no points, no insurance report. This was in South Dakota on Rt 29 going north.

Straight from the statutes, but I believe it varies greatly by county as my 16MPH over ticket was something like $200
If your going 30 over, they can also nail you for wreckless endangerment and go to jail.

"Justice"? Yeah...
Ok... Then how do you punish people who speed? Fine them less? If so, how is that a deterrent? (Listing the fines on the back of the ticket are a detterent for me, and so is that whole double fine in a work zone and school zone.) Would you rather pay higher taxes, or let people with the crap luck get caught and take care of it for you? Want to do 20 over? Be my guest, and help keep my taxes lower...
How should speeders be punished? Jail?
Oh, and I know how it feels... I got 2 non-moving violations that cost me 300 dollars.
