I am not going to get excited until I get some info on it...

for all we know the Camaro SS will be a RWD 3800 series II with dual outlet muffler instead of a single out let muffler on the regular z28, and the "RS" model being an ecotec.

Boo on the demise of the Firebird, we all know they've always had the styling edge over the Camaro! Maybe somebody could custom make an entire body package for the new Camaro and turn it into a virtual 5th gen Firebird/Trans Am... that'd be sweet!

I'm glad they're bringing the Camaro back though as long as it retains all the defining features the old f-bodies had. And it better be able to punish the new model Mustang GTs!

I too would lament the passing of the Firebird and Trans Am. Even the early fourth gens still look mean. The solstice looks like a nice car, but I just can't get excited over a four cylinder.

In a few years it'll be a great time to be buying a new car... GTO, Charger, Camaro and C6 will all be available. Can't wait!

I always had a special love for the firebird, my first decent car, my dad's first car, and all i've got to say is LLT/A! Long Live the Trans Am!

That GM Insider article said that retro styling was out of the picture because the new Camaro may have a life span of about 7-8 years, and a retro style wouldn't work for that long, the sales would taper off too much like with what happened to the Beetle and Thunderbird. Anyways, Bob Lutz hates retro and that guy's gonna have the final say... Hmmmm...

What worries me is its coming out in '07...

which means they have been designing it after all this new crap that has been coming out of GM, SSR, Silverado SS, saturn ion/cobalt, etc...

Last year or two GM hasn't made a car that excites me that much....

And during the thought process of this they were thinking up the new camaro... hopefully they don't mess it up.

interesting point, you might be right but i hope you're wrong. remember, the new vette came out of the same stylists. i know some people don't really like it but i'm glad they got back to a smaller and more "corvette-like" platform. i think they know what camaro user's needs are: RWD, power, aggressive styling. i hope those needs aren't too hard to deliver.
