Thing is about the new C6... compare it to the C5, in my opinion there was more of a drastic change between the styling of 93-97 f-bodies and 98-02 f-bodies teh the difference in C5s and C6s(styling of course)

Another thing I am worried about is they will make a nice car but make it rediculously priced like $27-35k

Heres that GM wrote back to me:

              Dear Mr. Lawrence,

Thank you for contacting the General Motors Customer Assistance Center. We
appreciate you taking the time to write us in regards to the discontinuation of
              our F-Body style vehicles.

We apologize for the disappointment expressed in your email and want you to know
that a number of Chevrolet Camaro owners and enthusiasts have expressed their
              fondness for this vehicle.

However, on September 25, 2001 General Motors Corporation announced that 2002
would be the last model year for the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird. Due
to the decrease in demand for the sport segments, this decision was unavoidable.

Although Camaro and Firebird have always had focused appeal, both Chevy and
Pontiac will continue the tradition of providing performance vehicles with high
              value.

GM will continue to support the millions of Camaro and Firebird/Trans Am owners
with replacement parts, reproduction parts, accessories and technical support
              through its Service Parts Organization.

In the future, we recommend that you contact our Canadian Customer Assistance
Center at 1-800-263-3777 to have your concerns addressed. You may also contact
them through their Website at www.gmcanada.com. We apologize for any
inconvenience this may cause you and appreciate your cooperation so that we may
              assist you better.

Again, thank you for contacting General Motors.

              Sincerely,

              Alice Cruikshank

                    No more Firebirds? :( :( :( :(
The only reason I like the firebird more than the camaro is because of the nice body styling, hide-away lights, and rear end.

Camaro is the bigger sales component of the two, the focus is always on Camaro when discussing F bodies form GM. Firebird is a product extension from their viewpoint. They will add the Firebird/TA into discussions if/when they decide to take the next step.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

I like firebirds myself, but I have always loved to slightly cleaner camaro lines. Nothing beats a 98+ SS in my opinion..just looks awesome.

I bet if the camaro works out they will drag the firbird back. It wouldnt be that hard to rebody and rebadge.

Anyways, Bob Lutz hates retro and that guy's gonna have the final say... Hmmmm...
Good, I want a futuristic car more than old school. If I want old school I'll buy an old car not a retro. I rather have neat high tech stuff in the car than the plain jane retro, like the New mustang, SSR.,.,, which is neat, in a way, but step inside and theres not much, just like the original.
Retro is kewl in the short run, the first couple of yrs, then it gets "old", real fast. The New Beetle, PT, T-Bird, all wore out on me pretty fast. I loved them the first yr, then afterwards, it's just another ride that blends in with the crowd.

I wouldn't mind paying 30-35Gs for an SS with HIDs, HUD, adjustable pedals, XM(most likely), T-Tops, and NAV System. That would be BadAzz if they had that as an option. LS6 Berlinetta??
BUT, that will never happen because CHEVROLETâ„¢ is a budget car company and they like to be on the safe side nowadays. Unless a lot of cars have those options or even as standard options a few yrs from now, THEN it will trickle down.

I think GM has done fairly well with the new line of cars coming out. The new Cobalt looks far less cheap than the old Cavaliers, the C6 Vette may not be that different than the C5 but why change a good thing? Pontiac has been doing great things lately as well. The new Grand Prixs, G6, and Solstice are all fresh designs. The GTO looks alright, but I'm waiting for the first restyling before I ever buy one, it needs to look like a Goat to be a GTO!

The reason Camaros sold more is because their base prices are cheaper. The base V6 Camaro was about $1000 less than the base V6 Firebird I believe. Firebirds have always had more standard options that drove up the price. I've never had a problem with the way Camaros look (aside from a few stock headlights and frogish appearance) but I much prefer the dynamic and radical styling of Firebirds/Trans Ams. I'll get a 2008 Camaro SS though, if the GTO still looks dull and the Firebird hasn't been reborn as well.
