Well, if you drive too fast, it'll happen to you eventually. My time came today. :(

So I was on my way south on I-25 in New Mexico, and suddenly this chick in a Scion starts following me. Really close. At first I didn't pay attention, but eventually it started to get on my nerves. I got on the gas a little to put some distance between us and got like maybe 1/8 mile between us. But she kept coming up right behind me. This happened over and over until we were both going almost 100 mph in the 75mph zone.

Well, at one point we passed a state trooper going the other direction. I didn't think anything about it until maybe 15 minutes later when I see a trooper coming up real fast with flashing lights. I slowed down, but the chick sped up and started weaving through traffic to get away. The cop went right after her, and got her going down an exit. I figured I had gotten off because she was the one that tried to run, but he started yelling and waving for me to stop as well. So I exited and we all pulled over on the little side road. (in the middle of nowhere)

At first he was acting like he was going to arrest us. He had us with out hands out of the car, patting us down, making sure he could watch both of us at the same time...

He said he clocked us a 97 mph and he hit 125 trying to catch up to us. Apparently he had the option to arrest us and threatened to do so. Well, this story is getting too long, so to make it short, he cited us both for 97 in a 75 and $200 fine and we got a talk about being careful on the street. I decided to pay the fine--the girl is taking it to court.

Apparently the situation was made worse because there were two of us going that fast together. He was suspicious that there was something going on between us, and if he had thought there was, it definitely would have been a night in jail for me.

Well this is going to be kinda hard on me paying the 200, especially since I just put down $955 for C5s...but hopefully I can manage.

But anyway, just my encouragement to those of you who drive fast and haven't gotten "busted" yet...it's really not worth the thrill or the saved time. If you're driving like that, the cops WILL get you. I know I'll be going about 5 under for a few months.

LOL, nice story man, and sorry about the ticket. I just pull into the other lane and let the nuts pass.

Don't you think that if there was something going on between a man and woman, that the man would be following the "victim" female? Also, don't you think the cop should have arrested her for attempted evasion? Man, that guy obviously had his head up his *** for not paying attention to the facts. Sorry you got a lazy/stupid cop.

BTW: I can make these statements because I work in law enforcement. Unless you do the same, no insults are allowed.

It depends on how far away she decided to stop. In my opinion you got lucky. He could have thought you were street racing. All he would have had to do was document what he saw in his report. Driving 5mph UNDER the speed limit in a camaro thats not suspicious is it? ;)

i don't get why the girl got the same ticket as you, and not more for trying to get away. sucks you got the ticket though. i haven't gotten one yet, but i'm usually pretty good at not speeding. i get so scared whenever there is a cop around though. i feel like they enjoy following me, waiting for me to mess up.

L32Project, I agree Im an LEO as well, but honestly when I see someone speeding I can't tell most of the time if your male or female all I see is speeding. Now I do understand the pat down cause state troopers dont have backup for at least 10 minutes in most causes so they have to be cautious.

Well, I'm not whining because I really deserved this ticket. As for the girl, it's really none of my business what she got or if it was less than she deserved. All I know is that what I got what exactly what I had coming to me. So yeah, I'm not complaining.

Honestly, as I see it, I really needed this to slow me down. Hopefully it will keep me from doing stupid things like this again.
