Well, if you drive too fast, it'll happen to you eventually. My time came today. :(
So I was on my way south on I-25 in New Mexico, and suddenly this chick in a Scion starts following me. Really close. At first I didn't pay attention, but eventually it started to get on my nerves. I got on the gas a little to put some distance between us and got like maybe 1/8 mile between us. But she kept coming up right behind me. This happened over and over until we were both going almost 100 mph in the 75mph zone.
Well, at one point we passed a state trooper going the other direction. I didn't think anything about it until maybe 15 minutes later when I see a trooper coming up real fast with flashing lights. I slowed down, but the chick sped up and started weaving through traffic to get away. The cop went right after her, and got her going down an exit. I figured I had gotten off because she was the one that tried to run, but he started yelling and waving for me to stop as well. So I exited and we all pulled over on the little side road. (in the middle of nowhere)
At first he was acting like he was going to arrest us. He had us with out hands out of the car, patting us down, making sure he could watch both of us at the same time...
He said he clocked us a 97 mph and he hit 125 trying to catch up to us. Apparently he had the option to arrest us and threatened to do so. Well, this story is getting too long, so to make it short, he cited us both for 97 in a 75 and $200 fine and we got a talk about being careful on the street. I decided to pay the fine--the girl is taking it to court.
Apparently the situation was made worse because there were two of us going that fast together. He was suspicious that there was something going on between us, and if he had thought there was, it definitely would have been a night in jail for me.
Well this is going to be kinda hard on me paying the 200, especially since I just put down $955 for C5s...but hopefully I can manage.
But anyway, just my encouragement to those of you who drive fast and haven't gotten "busted" yet...it's really not worth the thrill or the saved time. If you're driving like that, the cops WILL get you. I know I'll be going about 5 under for a few months.
