Also, you can call the police station everyday and ask for the ticketing officer, the day he isn't there, try that same day(s) the following week to see if he keeps the same schedule, if so request your court date, when you know the cop has the day off.
I don't know about Florida, but cops NEVER show up for court in New Jersey. It's usually between you and the prosecutor who usually just fines the hell out of you instead of giving points because they are making money off you for the town. Most people are happy about that. I'd ask others who have gotten tickets to get a feel of how the court system works there, so you know for sure. Also, you said your mom has connections because of her work.. have her call someone who knows the prosecutor or the judge (if possible)... it certainly can't hurt and one hand usually washes the other in politics... trust me, I know... been there.

Also, your mom could write a letter to the prosecutor explaining who she is, what happened to you (including the damage to the car), and if there could be a leaner penalty because you didn't realize you were going that fast. Explain that this is the first time you have been pulled over (I hope it is...) and that you are a good student in school or at work or whatever...

Or, if you do get a lawyer he could bring suit against the city/state for repairs, and/or negligence. More than likely they drop the charges and fix your car in exchange for you dropping your charges.

(the police here won't even use a slim jim to open car doors for you anymore because someone sued because the cop scratched the paint)
been arrested much? lol.......but thanks thats a good site with good info, i will deffinity delay my court dates.

as for updates I have none....ive decided to take the speeding ticket to court as well to take my chances of him not showing.....will be a week ro 2 before I hear antyhing else.....
</font>[/QUOTE]Since it sounds like you're not hiring a lawyer, which IMO is a bad move for how much is at stake, try calling the DA and see if he will give you a plea bargin or maybe drop/reduce the charges.

I would ask for my money back as obviously you didn't learn anything.

As for other things. That website is a joke. Asking for all that stuff will get you nowhere and will make you look like an idiot.

The prosecutor will have with him the only document neded as far as a radar gun goes. That will be the calibration document. And it will not matter how far back it was done as long as it is done within the required time frame.

And PA is the same as the other states mentioned. The cop does not have to show. They have one officer assigned to the court who represents all of them. Saves on overtime costs.
If you appeal though, you can have the cop show up. And they will.

Shane, I'm in Palm Beach County and I'm not sure if the law is the same for you but, down here the officer that issued the ticket does not have to show up in court. His report is considered good enough. Sorry to here about all this B.S. good luck with it in court.

Not sure what the rule is on cops showing or not showing, but in fighting 3 tickets in court. Cop showed up 1 out of the 3 times. Other times were ICF cops, and the tickets were so BS he was probably embarrassed to even show up.

Mark Horwitz! this is the only name you need to know. he is the best attorny there is in the orlando area and if you cant afford him he should at least be able to right a letter (which with him is usually more than enough to get you off) or he can recomend a good lawyer you can afford. you really, really need to get a lawyer. good luck hope you get off clean.
