I don't understand what you guys expect. Its a 4 door family sedan that never looked good in the first place. 'Cept way back, but even then they looked like everything else. Are you all expecting a sports car?

Not only that, the 2004 V6 FWD SS impala is faster than the "wonderful" 1996 SS isn't it? So this 2006 is an improvement and is exactly what its supposed to be, an ugly family sedan with a big engine for so so performance.

you think GM cars look like crap, but you're considering a 4G eclipse?
:D YEP. The new Eclipses are HOT. I've seen 2 of them on the road and both times I was like... what is that?!?! til I saw the "Eclipse" on back. And a 3.8 with 240 or 250 horse? Yeah, I'd take that over one of GM's lame cars anyday... cept' maybe the Vette... ;) </font>
yeah they look good but that 250 horses only sounds good until you hear how much those fat little b@st@rds weigh... way to much to be considered "sporty"... my opinion so flame on...

Its actually 263 horses. 3500 + lbs. though. Not bad. People have been running low-mid 14s though stock. Too bad theres no AWD or turbo version...

Eh...not really. The SS was mostly an appearance package in the 60s/70s. It was rarely the top performing model in a particular car line. They use it now for marketing, and just happen to toss some extra hp in the mix as well - sounds good to me.

I think the only time they ruined the SS name is when they stuck it on a Camaro that was faster than the Z/28....that's lame.
