but I have no respect for bikers around here..... a lot of the roads are 2 lanes in some places, and u have to either merge over into other traffic, or the places where its one lane each way, wait to pass him, and to do that it has to be a crapload of room , cuz u already had to slow down to 10mph, and the bikers is too much of an ******* to pull over to the side to let u pass him

I ride on the sidewalk unless there are pedestrians about. At least drivers are paying attention some of the time...

I used to be a long distance cyclist. It is very dangerous out there for bikers. I've had my few share of mishaps. It's true what CO Jones said. Sidewalk='s ticket. Unless if you're a kid then you're OK.

I don't have any problems at all sharing the road with bikers. I usually give them some space cushions when I pass them.

Bikers here is not a problem. You should to Europe or Asia. Where the bikers out number cars.

Only problems I have with bikers, are onces that go out at more populated times like rush hour.

Or they could take a better route but they don't(happens alot near my house, tons of open roads to get good speeds, but they choose to avoid them and go to the overcrowded 2 lane road that you can't pass bikers on.

Jerks like the original poster is why the road isn't safe for bicyclists.

Coming up on a bicyclist is no different than coming up on a farm tractor, construction equipment, or an old geezer doing 20 mph under the speed limit on a two lane road. Do you tell them they shouldn't be on the road? Probably not.

I pay taxes too and I am just as entitled to the road as you are. I will concede that there are some bicyclists that don't use a shred of common sense, but a vast majority give due consideration to the fact that they are slower than most other vehicles and try not to hold anyone up.

I also know that there are car drivers out there that don't think we belong on the road and won't move over to pass us even if they can.

I have been known to claim the right tire track of a lane and stay there if the situation warrants. Why? To force cars to actually move over to pass me so I don't get hit! Otherwise some don't move over thinking they are going to clear you and get you with their mirror.

I did the 70-mile Tour de Cure charity ride in Kansas City earlier this year and I was on the SHOULDER of a 4 lane road (two lanes each way) and this car came within a couple of INCHES (no exaggeration) of hitting me with their mirror. Why didn't they move over? No clue, probably just being a jerk like the original poster.

Heres what happened, i'm going down the road, doing 35, 5 over the speed limit. All of a sudden the car infront of me swerves hard to the left. I'm thinking, "Oh ****, what was that about?" Then I see it, some stupid idiot on a bicycle, pedaling along. There is a car on the left of me now, so I can't swerve over. I have to slammmm on the brakes, I come within inches, literally inches of this guys back tire. I am now doing 15 right behind this guy, thanking whoever up there that just stopped me from killing him. I said a few choice words and blasted by him.
So basically what you are saying is that you were speeding (5 mph over), following the car in front of you to closely, and not paying attention to what is in front of you; but it is the bicyclists fault?
