If I were a biker, I'd have to be nuts to even think about riding along on a highway where cars are going anywhere from 25-60 mph unless I:
A. was ready to be maimed or injured for the rest of my life.
Or
B. was ready to die a horrible death.

People can't even drive amongst other cars without creating problems. You have everything out there from careless teens to people who have poor vision, motor skills, ect. I say be safe and find some quieter back roads to bike on or mountain bike in a wooded park. It's more fun and safer than getting carbon monoxide poisoning while risking your life.

There is this one guy on base that takes his bike out for a ride every day. And every day, I have to swerve into the other lane to avoid him. He'll be riding in the road- less than two feet from the nice wide bike lane that CE put in for them. He also refuses to ride on the seperate bike/jogging trail that's set away from the road for their protection. Sometimes I was to slap this guy. Most of the time I just mutter under my breath that he doesn't like using the bike lanes

I BMX down center city Philly all the time and I make sure I not in the way of any cars cause there hit you with out much hesitation. However, what get to me is when there is traffic and we are riding by and a car either revs or try to cut us off. That’s when they get a good kick to the door or there side mirror taken out. I have also been taken out by parked cars when people aren't paying attention and open there door right into me I landed on a few hoods that way before.

Sounds like it's time for you to put down the bike and start driving ;)

Originally, I wasn't going to respond to this, but I got to thinking about it when I was biking yesterday from outside Denver to Boulder to pick up my new glasses(about 25 miles each way).

I start out on my neighborhood streets. Then, a park bikepath. That ends and I need to ride on a major 40MPH 2 lane road to get across some railroad tracks. After a mile I can get off that road and go on 25-30 MPH wide and low traffic roads for a couple of miles. I get on the next bike path to go through a tunnel underneath a major highway. That bike path connects to a very large network of bike paths on the other side of the road, but on my side it is just a hundred feet long and deadends onto the road I just came off of, which has no sidewalk. Next there is a series of new roads which have wide bike lanes. There's also a sidewalk, but it's bumpy and meanders around and up and down. I can cruise at 15-20MPH on the road, no way can I do that on the sidewalk. My modded Bianchi doesn't like to go slow, I'm using the road wheels today for speed. The semi offroad wheels have wider rims and tires, and lower gears. The route continues, a mix of bike paths and various roads.

Get the idea? If you want to go somewhere on a bike, you ride roads much of the time. Sidewalks are generally bumpy and slow, out of the question for serious riding. Bike paths are nice, but usually don't go very far, and have to be connected with roads.

Maybe you think I shouldn't be riding the bike for that trip, because I'm taking up too much road? Fine, the country needs energy. Turn in your wasteful fbody Monday for your government issue Honda Civic. You're using too much gas. In other words, it's a personal freedom deal.

I'm sure you're a nice guy, but your attitude about bikers needs some work/information. Sure, some bikers are inconsiderate just like some drivers.

But many bikers are people who take pride in their vehicle, which they have often modded to go faster, look better, or meet their personal needs better. Many bikers are your fellow fbody owners.

Some are both.

report his as$ to the SP's/wing king thru commanders action line. He's creating an unsafe situation by not using a safer way of transit. And teh CC's gonna be all about safety ;)
