Anyone here ever ride a Segway?

I was at a small airshow yesterday, and they had a little track set up where you could ride a Segway for 5 bucks. I'd never even seen on in person, so I figured what the hell. Those things are awesome! They're so easy to use. You just lean forward and it goes forward, lean back to go backwards. There's a little grip on the handle that you twist to turn. They accelerate and brake pretty fast, so riding around the track was a blast! :D

yeah, i got to ride one before they came out. i even got to tour dean cayman's house (he is the guy who invented the segway and several other items). he has a baseball feild, a helocopter hanger (with two copters), a huge machine shop, and all sorts of other cool things in his house. i got to do this as a part of my robotics competition i was a part of for all four years of highschool. he started the robot program and every year a few people from each team get to go to his house right before the competition starts. i however was not impressed with the segway. any group of engineers could have made a working prototype of that in a week. I do like how it is controlled but it will not change the world and i dont know why he thought it would. The hydrogen fuel cell car will change the world a whole lot more than that toy.

There was a security guard riding around on one of those at the Atlanta airport a couple months ago. He looked goofy on that thing inside

well, they were hyped a lot, until after all that R&D, and selling a few thousand of them, they realized that when the battery that powers the gyro dies, the stupid thing falls over

so now you have a pushmower
