  • help with mods!

O.k I dont know where to post this so I will post it in here!
Mods please move it if you wish just let me know. I have been searching the board to figure out what I am doing with my car as far as mods go for a while now and just really could use some input from you guys out there. I have a 1998 camaro 3.8 5 speed
and would like to get about 300 RWHP without nitrous and be reliable as well I know I ask for a lot!
first question is on exhaust I am thinking of just going with a hooker aero chamber
on the standard 2 1/2" I pipe from the converter will this work with my future mods
or should I go with a 3" catback
    future mods will be
    1. ceramic coated pacesetter headers
    2. whisper lid
    3. gt cam
    4. 255L fuel pump
    5. ported and polished intake and heads
    6. someday! a powerdyne supercharger
I have 6 hundred to work with right now and would like to get the exhaust done the whisper lid I should get before the end of january and the cam by spring any help or suggestions on mods would be very appreciated!
and yes I have used the search function also will the GT cam give me a nice lopy sound or is it too small I liked the sound clip of AZ3.8Camaro's camaro that is kinda what I am looking for again any help or suggestion would be really appreciated!
    Thanks
    Jack

I hate to be the one to tell you but I would venture to say that you are not going to see 300 at the wheels without some internal work to go with that supercharger. as for the cam, I do not know cam specks and will not for a while untill I feel like I am ready to learn all that advanced stuff, but I do know that you pick your power adder(no2, supercharger/turbo) and then pick a cam to go with it. sure you can get the cam first but it will not be in its sweet spot untill you add the power adder. and putting a good N/A cam into a supercharged beast will at best hamper the performance and at worst might break something. I would go with a full exaust from the headers on back first. if your going to go with a charger in the near future then don't waste your money on an intake you will not need after you put the charger on. just my opinion

Check out WickedSix's car, he's got like 275rwhp N/A! VERY fast car! I think he runs 13.30s... I don't know if you had to pass smog though.

Well.... for your intake/ exhaust questions.... go to intake/ exhaust section....

For the cam/ head work.... READ the advanced section

For the blower question.... we have a forced induction section

Not gonna move it..... cause it could go all over the place......

I would venture to say you're wrong. He'll easily hit 300hp with those mods. With some nice head work, free flowing exhaust, and PD he'll push 300 pretty quickly. I would imagine that he wouldn't even need an aftermarket cam to reach to 300hp.

On a side note, you should really base all of the mods off of the fact you're going to be superchargering the car. Also, I would recommend upgrading the suspension and transmission before you start the engine work. No point in making 300hp if you can't put it to the ground. Unless you want a tire burner.

Agreed. Polyeurethane is your friend :D But then again, if I didn't have close to $2,000 in my suspension, I could have used that money to make it go faster....

Don't waste your money on a 2.5" catback, get at LEAST 2.75" if not 3"... If you use a power adder or a cam, you car will HATE backpressure.
