try using a wrench instead of a ratchet on the plug socket. that's what i did before i put headers on, now they are easy to get to.

96 firebird auto 138,000. besides normal maintenance (plugs, wires, filters, ect.) i've had to replace the alternator, egr valve, a coil pack and an 02 sensor, i've changed a lot more but those are the only things that have broken
it does leak oil though, gonna change the rear main next time i change the tranny fluid

I can't remember much else, but the exhaust adn a few other misc. items. I've gone through A LOT of sensors. Gonna try and put a nice turbo on it to see how long it lasts. Also, I use royall purple as many know and will be switching to mobil 1, for cost reasons :(

I've got 119,000 on a 2000 M5 Camaro. I've put lots of fun things on it but the only things I had to replace because they broke was the A/C compressor, clutch master cylinder, wires, alternator, and of course that damned window motor :)

I bought her with 80K on the odo, and she was bone stock at the time. Whoever the previous owner was must have taken good care of her.

I switched to Royal Purple gear oil in my diff about a year ago, mainly because it already has the friction modifier for my LSD in it. It's weird, but sometimes I couldn't find the little tube of 'LSD juice' in my local auto parts store and had to do a lot of driving around to find it.

I lost a bearing in my diff at ~100k (and had to have it rebuilt again at ~115k to fix what the warranty repair screwed up). I've had a larger than normal amount of noise from back there ever since, but the Royal Purple seemed to make the noise much less noticeable, which means that I've probably got less gear drag back there costing me rwhp. I also suspect that the frictiion modifier mixed into the RP gear oil was better quality than the gunk from autozone/pep boys because my LSD also seems to work better. (I was just about to replace the entire rear end before switching to RP because I was peg-legging in the snow. Now I see no diff problems and can lay down two perfect stripes in the wet or dry.) :D

well, i got 141,000 on mine. first time it has been down ever. Intake gaskets were leakin, did a compression check to check to see if the head gaskets were still good. 2 cyls had low compression, so i thought bad head gasket. Took em to get worked, both cracked...what now....

275,000 here. Took it out for a leisurely spin and I'll admit the cold winter air sure makes the extra seat of the pants feel power noticeable here in the Northeast.

FlamingChicken: I don't quite understand what is actually cracked. The 2 bad cylinders or the gaskets of the offending cylinders?

If your shop found 2 cracked cylinders then the engine is no good. Is it a 3.4 or 3.8 motor? What year of the vehicle in question?

Might as well post in the General Tech forum about your findings as it is an appropiate section to deal with your problem.

                      Good luck there man.

my bad, i took the heads off, and they magged the heads and found that they were cracked, right in between the valves, so now i have to find another set of not cracked heads. it ran hot, and i didnt stop till i smelled the smell, cause the idiot light didnt come on and the temp didnt read hot.

its a 3.8, i think i got it taken care of, just a pain in the arse. cause i gotta drive my bug, which is amazing in every since of the word, its just not fun to drive all the time. Stage 4 kennedy clutch doesnt find its way to the floor very easy.
