That was around when I first started driving. I remember being shocked when I had to pay $1.10.

I've never had to pay a fee to use my credit card.

Hell, if im not mistaken, I belive they CAN NOT charge a fee if you use visa. I think visa has very strict rules against that.

            Edit: I was right.

Credit card surcharges and cash discounts

In some states the customer can be assessed a surcharge for using a credit card. However, there are laws against credit card surcharges in CA, CO, CT, FL, KS, MA, ME, NY, OK and TX. Additionally, Visa and MasterCard prohibit surcharges. American Express discourages them in general, and prohibits merchants from charging them if they also accept MasterCard or Visa. Discover allows surcharges on credit card purchases except in the above states. According to Bankcard Holders of America, there is one exception to the no surcharge law. If you pay state license fees by credit card, you may have to pay a surcharge. There are no exceptions for retail merchants.

</font>[/QUOTE]I remember back in the late 80's early 90's, they would charge you a small ($.25-$.75) fee if you used a credit card, because they had to process it by hand. It was a big deal when gas stations started saying "cash or credit, same price". At least that's what I remember when I lived in Bucks County, PA

In 99 or 2000, it was 89 cents a gallon here in the summer. It used to cost me 28 dollars to fill my Bronco then. So glad I don't have it anymore, because now it would cost me 104 dollars.

I guess we just been gettin off too easy in the past, now the times come. :(
