So I guess the Houston dealerships should start crediting people for their spare tires, since it's illegal it put one on if you get a flat.

"They need to know to check their gas before they get on the freeway and make sure their car is freeway-ready," Saperstein said. "If they have a problem, they are not going to be able to call a friend and wait to get it fixed. They are going to be towed."
So, I guess he's never had a piece of debris from a highway hit his car, or have a blow-out or puncture on a perfectly good tire? This is one of the dumbest laws that I've ever heard of. It makes me angry just reading it, and I don't even live in Texas

Well I live in houston and just got something in the mail about this so called law and it sucks. Basicaly if anything happens to your car on the highway you can't leave you car there. Even its a deadly wreak the cars have to be taken off the highway as soon as possible or a police officer will give you a big nasty ticket. So even if something as simple as a flat tire happens on your car while on the highway you have to drive it on the rim until you can get it off the highway or pay a wreaker to come and pull you off the highway for $75 even if its only 20 feet. And if you do leave you car on the sholder of the highway any wreaker can come and pick it up and take it away. I think this so called law is bull**** just more ways for the city to get money out of us and have more freedome for wreaker drives to basicaly do what ever they want to your car and you can't say **** about it.

Great, so major traffic accidents can't be investigated properly, causing everyone involved to be "at fault" and insurance skyrockets for everyone involved (inlcuding people who drive the same types of cars but aren't involved in any accidents). Sounds to me like they're trying to make driving so expensive, only the elites get to partake.

Not to mention, if these places are going to get so much business from having these contracts, why is the initial tow fee for the first 5 miles so high? Shouldn't they be charging $35 or so because it's for the city's benefit? Oh well, more moneymaking schemes at work. :(

And this is still all hear-say... I mean, I don't think if this was an actual law, they would publish something in the newspaper 4 days before it's to take effect with no other talk about it.

I want to see the actual law itself. If anything, it's probably just a proposition right now.

That is absolutely BS
i dont live in TX but am plannin a road trip to houston this summer for some car modifications

if you do have a problem that takes over 6 minutes, do u at least get to pick the towing company?????
if i ever had a problem, i would only let a flat-bed towtruck tow my car b/c its so much safer from being damaged.

like i said this is BS and i hope it is repealed before i ever go into houston

I wonder how many boxes of nails the mayor bought from Home Depot. Look, instant revenue!

Dig around and see who made this law. Then see which friends or family they have that own towing companies.
better yet, find out who made the law, sabotage his car so that it brakes down and he has it towed and impounded!
