  • I KNEW IT! my car is really alive!

Ok guys, heres this very odd story, some of you can probably relate to it. I got my camaro 3 years ago and have put so much time work and love into it. And I sware, it acts like it's really alive sometimes. Like for instance last fall, I tried to part ways with it and sell it. And seriously, it broke purposley just so I couldn't sell it. First the bracket that holds the a/c compressor broke and I fixed that, then I had this odd problem I could never figure out for like a month. I took the forsale sign out of the window, and the problem fixed it's self. I sware, it just did it so I couldn't sell it. So anyway, today made me realize everything I thought is true. Some of you may of known, I painted my car and then totaled it a week after. Very unfortunate, but today i'm sitting in my car taking out my cdplayer. I put the stock radio back in. Put all the interior panels back together. And i'm sitting there in the car bymyself just trying to get one last feel for it, before they take it tomorrow. And all of a sudden. The radio comes on for 2 seconds, not the radio but the display comes up '12:00' for 2 seconds and fades away. I DON'T HAVE KEYS TO THE CAR! There is no way in hell that radio could get power like that when the ignition isn't turned on or nothing. I was freaking out! It's like the car was saying it's final goodbye to me.

    What do you guys think?

The radio gets power from the battery even when the ignition is off. So it can remember the time, your preset stations, etc. ;)

Capacitor had stored energy, and only powered it for 2 seconds, possibly...

You didn't happen to name her "Christine" did you?

But yeah, I can relate to that. Sometimes I think my car is alive, too. It's too much of a coincidence that 8 out 10 times that I drive my Firebird (I only drive it on weekends) the first thing I hear on the radio is Guns N Roses "Sweet Child of Mine" the part where he sings "Where do we go now?" Freaky!

My thoughts exactly. Before I installed my new cd player, my old one will play cd's with the display off and the ignition off. It was wierd. It would just turn itself on or something. New cd player fixed that.

                          1. Put a TV and VCR in front of the car.
                          2. Put a copy of "Herbie the Love Bug" in the VCR.
                          3. See if anything happens.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
