No, it may not be a Indy PACE car, it may be an Indy OFFICIAL car. The last year for those was 2002, the last year of the F-body in general. When either the Indy 500 or the Brickyard 400 was in town, there would be at least 75 official cars, even if the pace car for that year was a different model. IF it is a 2000 model year, it was not an official car for the Indy 500, all those cars were Oldsmobile Alero's, Bravada's, and Aurora's, it was an official car for the 2000 Brickyard 400, which would be a white car. You would notice either the IMS logo, or a purple and silver logo of the 2000 Brickyard 400 SOMEWHERE on the car, if the logo's haven't been taken off. But I do know for an absolute certainty that in 2000, some of the official cars for the Brickyard 400 were SS Camaro's.
Does the ad a website, or a published ad??? If I had a look at it, I could tell you if it was an Indy official car or not.
BTW, SOME of the official cars that left didn't have documentation. IMS had a tendency to start keeping that stuff after 1998, they were making plaques out of the documentation, and the rare license plates that were used during the races.
That doesn't look like a Official car from 2000. The only official cars that were silver were 2002 Birckyard 400 cars, and Indy 500 cars. They would have the race logo, and would have a rainbow stripe going down the body from front to back, and the rainbow stripe would turn checkered. I would call and ask what he meant by Indy.
