• My seat belt fell off

In the GTP. IT FELL OFF! O-F-F OFF. FELL THE FVCK OFF! My wife called be about 30 minutes ago telling me the seat belt came off, and was just kinda hanging.

It's the bottom part of the seat belt, where it's bolts to the seat. The best part is, there are NO nuts ANYWHERE in the car. It was sold to us without the nut even being there. We just bought this car last week, what kind of legal rights do I have? I mean, it's not something minor like a interior panel or something, its the friggen seat belt. I'm going to the dealership where I bought the car and am going to raise some serious hell about this. In my eyes, this is completely unacceptable. What if she had been into an accident? She would have been thrown from the car.

Thank God she wasn't in an accident when this happened. She got back in the car and when she went to latch her seatbelt, the whole thing came with the latching part of it.

Hate to say it but I dont think there is much you can do. There is no way to prove you bought it that way.
Look on the bright side though, like you said, at least you noticed it before it was too late

Yea, true, but the bolt doesnt even look like it's had the nut on it for a while, and it's not stripped at all.

I mean, this isn't like the headliner falling down or something, its the damned seat belt. They aren't suppose to fail.

If the car had been in an accident, whoever was driving would have been flung out the windshield. I mean, what other bolts are 'just missing' on this car?

This car is basically new, it's an 04 with only has 33k on it. It's not like we're talking about a 35 year old car here.

My focus has a restraint system warranty. I'll bet GM has something along those lines too. Call a dealership.

Call a few dealers and see what they can do for you. I know some brands have lifetime warrentys on seatbelts even though it isn't stated anywhere. For example, when the seatbelts in my dad's Jag stoped working (crappy early 90s ones that move when you open the door) we took it one place and they wanted an arm and a leg so we called another dealer and they said they could do it for free.

I know you are dealing with GM not a Jag, but its worth calling a few places telling them this is how you bought it and seeing if they will work something out for you.

It's an '04 should it should be under warranty for at least 1 more year. Call the dealership & raise hell man.

              Good luck

Well... We took the seatbelt to the stealership, and all the sudden, we aren't financable.

Note, this is the first time we've heard of it, and it coincidently happened when we had a major saftey failure on the car. The dealership basically made US back out of the contract. There was a clause in the contract that stated the BUYER may back out before a 3rd party financer can finance us.

<<Knows several contacts in the media. I'll make sure this makes it on prime time on every Tampa news station.
