me and mom put him on the prayer list at church, but I don't think they know how serious it is getting. He passed out 3 times in 45 minutes.
I'm not sure exactly what it is yet, but he is going to the doctors tomorrow, so hopefully we will get a little clarification.
Right now they are thinking (hoping) that it is asthma related, and he is not getting enough oxygen. Hopefully they can clear it up before it gets to serious. I will post as I find out more.

it seems to be within a few minutes of him standing up. He has already fell forward into a wall and walked down it with his face, but the one that just happened was the first one that I have seen. He was standing there watching tv and just fell straight back, no bending of the knees or anything. He smacked his head into the drywall and cracked it pretty good. Fortunately, he didnt hit the wood trim on the window, that might have done some damage. At first I thought he was playing with the dog because it was right behind him and I looked at him like what the hell are you doing? and then I realized he was completely flat on his back and had his tongue out kinda chewing on it in a wierd way. He sat up looking very confused and started crying. I held onto him for a few minutes until he calmed down. I sat down talking to mom and him a little later and told them I that I thought he was playing with the dog trying to sit on him or something. It's almost funny because he didnt hurt himself, but when I try to laugh I almost cry so I have to stop doing that too.
I just hope it can be fixed simply and isnt a big deal.

man that gould be alot of stuff i was doning that when i would stand up, it was a interear infection.

I was third shift for a year, so I won't have a problem staying up. So at least I can [img]graemlins/stickpoke.gif[/img] him if he falls asleep.

My brother has a heart condition when he was born, the 3rd heart chamber never developed and he had a small hole there. Which was corrected with surgery he still can't run for long periods because his heart can't keep up with the rest of his body. He still tries to keep up with his friends and will pass out sometimes from over exertion, so I know how you feel when you see your little bro just drop.

My prayers are with your brother and your family.


Also has he hit his head on something lately, cause I wrecked an mr2 about a year ago, and would pass out if I stood for long periods of time, or as soon as I'd stand.

i had the same exact problem you are describing...after standing up i would black out...pass out...and sometimes i would get bad nose bleeds and stuff...was in the hospital for a couple days until they said for sure it was related to high blood pressure...they said untreated they would've gave me 10 years to live MAX ...now that was an eye opener...they said mine was so high they were surprised my ears werent bleeding too...i was put on a med called hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) ..its a common diuretic used for high bp...although people as young as me and your brother having high bp (if thats his problem) isnt common.. it happens...and is usually genetic ...been on this med for about a year now...basically its called a vexyl vegal response (i dont know if i spelled that right) ..the vexyl vegal nerve runs from your gut to your head...when your body senses that you dont have enough blood to the brain this nerve is triggered to make you black out or pass out completely...this puts you in a laying down position so blood flow returns to your head...hopefully thats all it is because it is actually a pretty simple problem and easily corrected...and hopefully he hasnt had the problem too long...my long term bp problem lead to me having a rare condition called gilbert's disease ...its a harmless condition that effects the kidneys...but high bp can cause more serious conditions if its not found quickly...i wish your family and your brother the best of luck! (now i have to get surgery this winter for a grade 3 a/c shoulder separation i got 10 years ago when i used to race downhill mountain bikes...it never ends! lol)

well turns out it is Nonfasting (also called reactive or postprandial) hypoglycemia.

This type develops within 3 to 4 hours of eating. It can be caused by hereditary enzyme deficiencies such as galactosemia or by surgery to remove all or part of the stomach. Sometimes the cause is unknown. Nonfasting hypoglycemia within 1 to 2 hours after a meal can occur if stomach contents empty into the intestines too rapidly (alimentary hypoglycemia).

so he is seeing the doctor regularly and is going to have to watch his diet carefully. He is still getting dizzy at school, but is doing alot better. I think this is a good thing, it could have been alot worse. This shouldnt affect his life too much (just has to eat things he doesnt like, like oatmeal and splenda)
course it makes me change my diet too lol

anyways, thanks for the thoughts and prayers. On a scale of 1 - 10 of things it could have been (1 being heart problems or epilepsy, 10 being nothing wrong) I would say this would be a 7 or 8
