hey, I'm going to traffic court tomorrow and i'm pulling out all the stops.. subpoenaing records.. questioning the cop.. i'm sick of these traffic cops everywhere instead of stopping real crimes. My question is this. Do i subpoena records before i go to court? or is that something i do after i plead not guilty and then talk to the judge and prosecutor?
jc
quick answer would be awesome

yes, you have to subpoena the record before court....may need a lawyer??
And not out stopping real crime? oldest excuse in the book. Traffic violations are illegal as well. We have laws for a reason, and it's not so you can defy them and blame cops for not stopping "real crime"
You said it all in your post that shows your flawed logic...
"Traffic cops everywhere instead of stopping real crimes."
This can be taken two ways. Traffic cops are there to monitor traffic and help ensure proper traffic flow, not to go on domestic violence calls.
If you're saying they've got too many cops doing traffic enforcement, you can blame yourself. You're the one breaking the law and causing the need for traffic cops. If you weren't speeding, they wouldn't be needed (at least not in the numbers that are out there now).
Hopefully you get your pee-pee smacked in the dirt by the Judge because you are wrong, wrong, wrong.

nah.. u don't need a lawyer, you can represent yourself and yes i can motion for a subpoena of document in traffic court if the prosecutor isn't willing to work out a deal.
BTW.. so real cops and real law make ridiculously low speed limits so they can sit and slap a 120 dollar fine on everyone who goes over it? Sounds like a police state aka money making machine. Then they send you ur ticket and you can just pay it (waive it)? God how much money do they need? Since when do laws have monthly quotas? I don't see a monthly quota on the number of murders solved each month. Speeding tickets are like paying extra taxes that you get crapped on over and over again with insurance premiums... hell with that nonsense.. win or lose I have to pay the court costs anyway so ****.. why not try
Also, you guys are acting as if I'm guilty. "Don't break the law" Okay toolbag.. I'm asking for documents to be subpoena'd, you have no idea about the case or situation so get your head back up your *** it does more good there

You my friend must ether by a traffic cop or an *******, same thing really. How do you feel about being a tax instrument, because that’s all traffic cops are. Cops don't make the roads safer you just collect money for the city or state. Real cops do go out and stop crime, we should make more traffic cops do that, and then cops would get respect they deserve.
The reason most people speed is the speed limit is ridiculous; it was good for when it was set cars were not at the same level as they are now.
I think we could make America a lot safer if we took about 50% of the traffic cop and made them real cops, but there is no profit in that.
I would rather get hit by speeding traveler than have my wife get raped or my kid gets shot.
Actually real legislatures make real laws about traffic. Real voters like you put those real legislatures in power. Real traffic cops are hired by the real government that you choose to enforce the very real traffic laws which your government made. So... you really can only blame yourself if youre disgruntled.
We may put those "real legislatures" in power, but do you honestly belive they are woking for us?
I don't think they are. If you don't think traffic law are about making money, then you must be blind.

That's not really true.
Lets say I believe rape should be legalized.
Which legislature will support me?
Same goes for a ton of other things. Just because somebody is in office does not mean he is the person whose views I support

now that is a good point. can anyone argue that? </font>
You don't see a monthly quota on murders, but you do see a quota on traffic violations? Please show your sources on this 'quota' system. And tell me, since you must know,,how many tickets must a cop give out for traffic violations each month? It seems like it would be public information..and it sounds like you know,,so where did you find this?

Hmm...
when we say TRAFFIC COP, are we talking, JC, that you got a moving or NON-moving violation?
I've only had one of either, it was a NON-moving violation. Get this, I parked in the WRONG DIRECTION!!! I had tendonitis in my left ankle (works the clutch), had just come from the doctor and parked on the side of the street. facing the wrong way. I was pissed too, because I was injured and to top it all off, I couldn't start the car because the security light tripped. But ya know what? It wasn't worth the time to argue and piss and moan about it, and after looking in the ORC, there IS a law against parking in the wrong direction (don't ask why, but there is).
So figuring that pleading ignorance (not know/caring for law) wasn't going to work, I mailed in my 45 dollar fine.
wah. 45 bones. :(
