Since when do laws have monthly quotas? I don't see a monthly quota on the number of murders solved each month.
now that is a good point. can anyone argue that? </font>
You don't see a monthly quota on murders, but you do see a quota on traffic violations? Please show your sources on this 'quota' system. And tell me, since you must know,,how many tickets must a cop give out for traffic violations each month? It seems like it would be public information..and it sounds like you know,,so where did you find this? </font>
my cousin’s fiancée is a new state trooper. his boss told him to get so many a month then he won't haft to worry about keeping his job. He was kind of looked down upon because he was not giving out enough tickets when he first started.

Also when I was at court a few months ago my lawyer and I were chatting with he chief of police just wasting time. he mentioned how his new guy (not my cousins fiancée) was writing so many ticket’s that he was 3 times over his quota. that he had to give him 2 court days instead of one like everyone else.

Now I am not saying that they are only out for the money. I think they are kind of like NASA and such companies. They get government and state grants but not enough to be supported so they must pick up the tab by being a business like origination.

You are going to represent yourself??? You're fuct. You might as well pay the fine. Only fools represent themselves in court.

You said it all in your post that shows your flawed logic...

"Traffic cops everywhere instead of stopping real crimes."

This can be taken two ways. Traffic cops are there to monitor traffic and help ensure proper traffic flow, not to go on domestic violence calls.

If you're saying they've got too many cops doing traffic enforcement, you can blame yourself. You're the one breaking the law and causing the need for traffic cops. If you weren't speeding, they wouldn't be needed (at least not in the numbers that are out there now).

Hopefully you get your pee-pee smacked in the dirt by the Judge because you are wrong, wrong, wrong.
You my friend must ether by a traffic cop or an *******, same thing really. How do you feel about being a tax instrument, because that’s all traffic cops are. Cops don't make the roads safer you just collect money for the city or state. Real cops do go out and stop crime, we should make more traffic cops do that, and then cops would get respect they deserve.

The reason most people speed is the speed limit is ridiculous; it was good for when it was set cars were not at the same level as they are now.

I think we could make America a lot safer if we took about 50% of the traffic cop and made them real cops, but there is no profit in that.

I would rather get hit by speeding traveler than have my wife get raped or my kid gets shot.
</font>
You know, I'm an MP (Security Forces) for the USAF, and I'm also an *******. Deal with it. How many people you know have been raped? Now how many people you know have been hit by a speeding/careless/intoxicated driver? Imagine if all these professional drunks out there knew there were less traffic cops on the streets? What would happen then? That's right, DUI/DWI deaths would SKYROCKET! Then your wishy-washy *** woud be screaming "It's all the cops fault! If they were out there enforcing traffic, my wife/kid wouldn't have been killed by a drunk driver!" Your logic is screwed as well.

As for "quotas", I know it's illegal in CA. Know your local laws before spouting off at the mouth about something you know nothing about. Being "encouraged" to write tickets is not the same as having a quota. If you're not writing tickets like all the other cops, it could seen as if you're lazy and don't want to do the paperwork or show up in court. You are then considered a "substandard performer" and then you get fired. Andrew.brandon, this isn't directed at you (not the attitude, anyways.)

I don't know about the rest of PA, but in Philly the cops do not have to show for court anymore. There is one cop in court who represents all of them.

If you appeal the ruling, then you can have them show up.

As Irv Homer once said when he gave a talk at a local prison, "You all love the cops. If you didn't, you wouldn't break the law and they would all be out of a job."

BTW, traffic cops are real cops.

I don't like cops.

Not that I particularry don't like the role they play in the world, it's just that some cops think they need to inforce every law to the littlest beaurocratic last straw. Rolling slowly (below 4mph) through stopsign is perfectly fine if there's no traffic. Why inforce this stupid sh*t? Give the reason.

Did you know that oral sex is illegal in virginia? Maybe we should lock everyone up, just because some idiot made this law?

Justice system is too inflexible, too greedy. Money is what's at stake. Money. Plea bargains all over the place... Money from tickets, money for lawyers, court fees, processing fees... just to make more laws, restrict more freedoms in retarded ways, waste more time and screw more people over for stupid sh*t.

Now, don't get me started on victimless crimes. People that made those laws must be totally retarded in the head and should be thrown out of the bench IMMIDEATELY, those laws revised and cancelled and move forward to a more free America!

F*ck power hungry morons

Are you old enough to remember that 55 was not always the national speed limit? I remember when the AC Expressway in NJ was limited to 70mph. And most people were doing 80. The speed limit is not at fault, rather the idiots who break it. Want to break the speed limits, go to a track.

Do you really want to see some 16yr old doing 90 in his 72 Javelin trying to stop a car that is far too heavy for those 9" brake shoes?

The kid who dumped his mom's Lumina because he drove too fast for conditions. Is that who you want doing 100mph?

You want to make America safer? Make a national minimum age to drive. Say 21. Don't allow anyone with less than 4yrs exp to drive a sports car. Or any kind of car that car mags swoon over.

Or make the person go through the same kind of training you need to get a pilot's license. Or take the car away of anyone who whines when they break the law and get caught.

</font>
I suggest different system. Create 85-110mph lane only, where you have to have certain qualifications and rigid car inspection (including perfomance tires and brakes). That way idiots can drive slow and proficient drivers can drive at comfortable speed without ramming into slow pokes on the road.

Do you know what is one of the main problems in America? It's too pussified. Government is trying to protect the citizens from themselves.
I know this because I came from Russia 6 years ago and I was shocked by how much government is trying to decide what's best for citizens.

Fight the power man!

Yeah police do try and make money off traffic fines. Thats why insurance companies will buy nice radar guns for the police. It's a "win/win" situation. The radar guns pay for themselves so quickly and the insurance company makes thousands off each policy.
Thats all.

 That's not right! LOL, I hope I'm not wrong, since I only got pulled over once for speeding in CA (I did it all the time) got a ticket, but paid it and went to traffic school. $180 later for 15 over... ouch. :D Honestly, I don't see too many ppl pulled over for speeding in CA (lived there over 18 years, drove around 2-3 years.)

What exactly did he see? A big black board with every officers name and a tally next to them,,with the word "Quota" written big and bold?
