Are you so brainwashed that you believe 9/11 happened in a vacuum? You think those terrorists had nothing better to do than to plan this huge attack just because they felt like it?

9/11 happened for a reason. It should have been a wake-up call to the American people--a wake up call to straighten up our foreign policy and maybe realize that we do not rule the planet. (Unfortunately, it had the opposite effect entirely.) It was caused by decades of poor American foreign policy. Stupid decisions by the U.S. government caused them to hate us so they attacked... and who ended up suffering? Innocent American civilians.

stefan, just something quick...back to the original topic...say we cut tax dollars to help the economy, we cut down on the police force...then where does that "cut" police force go?...they too are then out of a job...everything must go into retrospect....every action has a reaction...I guess you are a person that sacrafices your pawns to let your bishop rule the board...correct?...dont worry it's been happening for centuries.

Ok, SERIOUSLY! If you guys think that more officers on the street will help cut down crime, you're all morons. First off, I'm not saying I'm an expert in Criminology and it's correspondance, but I am; however, a CJ Major. Violent crime is a small fration of ALL crime. Violent crime examples are murder, rape, burglary, arson, etc. A majority of these crimes are unpredictable. So how is putting more officers on the streets going to cut down on these crimes? And in case you guys are wondering, the majority of crime is "white-collar" crime, but the only reason why its not considered a crime is because it's not tried in a criminal court; but a civil court. The mere definition of crime is "any act that is punishable by a criminal court." Like Stefan, I too hate useless gov't spending; but since most of Americans are idiots, they think that more police=more protection. There are also reports out there that show this, with the NCVS (National Crime Victimization Survey) and the UCR (Uniform Crime Report) being the most credible. Keep in mind though, the UCR is reports collected by police - bringing a bias into the reports.

I have said it once, and I will say it again, ISOLATIONISM!!!! We spend all this money for police, and for no real obvious reason but to only pay a bunch of fat***es to sit around all day and eat donuts. Plain and simple. They may do their exercises every once in a while, but for what, to stop a terrorist, or for that matter, any crime? I honestly can't laugh harder about anything else than that.

All this crap started because the US is a bunch of greedy people. We wouldn't have to deal with all this terrorist crap if we would have left the middle east alone in the first place. We go around the world to get things we have right here in the US. And all this crap with the middle east is about oil, OIL!!! Anyone that says something different is a dumb***. We have managed to mess with a bunch of orthodox, religious people so we can power our cars, trucks, busses, trains, when all we had to do is GET OUR OIL!!! The state of Texas and most of the offshores of that state have more oil plugged up in the ground than all of the middle east, but our own greed, our will for dominance, and our pride is what makes us go for things that aren't ours. We are turning into an Israel, with the rest of the world as the Palestinians. We provoked these people by desecrating their holy lands, and taking advantage of a simple people. And our government is the culprit. By even allowing lobbyists we have proof that our government is a bunch of greedy, money hungry people. And you know who is to blame for all this **** going on, we must blame ourselves. We vote these people in based mostly on a party system. We have fuct ourselves over, and the only person to blams is us.

I love this country, don't get me wrong. My great-grandfather came here at the turn of the century, because he believe this was the land of opportunity. And that is exactly what it is, but our opportunities to be strong are here, within the US. Everything we need to live great lives is within the bounds of our own land. It is when we have to prove to other people outside of our country how great we are that gets this country into what we currently face. Our own ignorant pride has now made us spend BILLIONS on things that could have been easily avoided if we were to have just kept to ourselves. Billions on a war that wasn't needed, on police security that is far from perfect, on training not needed, and on things we should not have had to use. And not only has it cost us money, it has cost us lives.

I can't blame Bush for any of this, its not COMPLETELY his fault. He only added gas to the fire. This problem with us being the superior force in this world is what has caused it all, and that began shortly after WWII. We have forced a lifestyle on a people that didn't want it, and we forced it upon them because of our own greed and pride. These are sad days ahead for the United States, and maybe instead of relying on others to help an already powerful nation, maybe we can help ourselves, and the problems that continue to hinder this nation.

boy, you people are way behind the times. we didn't get attacked because of our foreign policy. we helped train osama and his men when the soviets were trying to overrun their country. we supplied them with weapons. in following the fundamentalist way of thinking, they gladly took the training and weapons whilst despising us behind out backs (first phase of jihad). we were helping them save their country from an invasion so they could maintain their religious freedom.

fundamentalist muslims aren't concerned with our foriegn policy. they don't care. they want "people of the book" dead. pretty freakin simple. what do you think jihad is? killing yourself in the name of allah (killing people of differing religions) is the only way to guarantee your entry into heaven. why do you think so many are happy to do it?

most of the middle eastern governments tend to disregard parts of the quran because they do not condone killing. how many times have leaders been assasinated in the name of allah? surah 8:39 says, "and fight them until there is no more fitnah (other religions) and the religion will be for allah alone. but if they cease, then certainly, allah is all-seer of what they do." tell me that isn't a foundation for starting a war?

some of you guys are just clueless. in 1997, clinton received word that hussein wasn't complying with the un resolution to remove his wmd. clinton thought it would look like he was starting a war to take the heat off his scandals so he neglected to do anything.

when terrorists bombed the embassies in tanzania and kenya, clinton did what? he sent a couple of million dollar missiles to blow up a couple of ten dollar tents. i bet those terrorists were having a good laugh at that. when they bombed the uss cole, clinton thought maybe if we just let it go, they'd forget. they forgot alright. then i guess in '01 they remembered again.

it is really entertaining seeing an argument go on where neither party has enough information to competently debate their argument. just a bunch of crap they may have picked up off googling cnn right before replying.

property crimes would be the highest, not violent crimes. more police will deter crime. if that wasn't the case, crime rates would skyrocket at crowded events where there are more, you guessed it, police. saturation patrols have a proven record of being effective.

and ucr is regulated and maintained by the fbi. how do you figure it's biased? where did that come from? it is based on facts of a crime, not opinions or preferences.

pay attention in class, you must be missing some important parts.

                    Yes we did.

While this is probably partially true, I'd like to point out that "jihad" does not appear in the Koran, but it is really a political device created in the last half of the 20th C.

we were helping them save their country from an invasion so they could maintain their religious freedom.
No, we were giving the Soviets their own Vietnam.

fundamentalist muslims aren't concerned with our foriegn policy. they don't care. they want "people of the book" dead.
The people that attacked the US are very much concerned with our foreign policy, as it directly affects their quality of life. Your next statement is ridiculous, because the "People of the Book" refers to the Koran and includes Muslims, Christians, and Jews.

pretty freakin simple. what do you think jihad is? killing yourself in the name of allah (killing people of differing religions) is the only way to guarantee your entry into heaven. why do you think so many are happy to do it?
Jihad isn't really a word with a clear etiology, but is likely a bastardization of the concept of "struggle" which meant a personal struggle against sin/temptation.

most of the middle eastern governments tend to disregard parts of the quran because they do not condone killing.]
The Koran condones killing much in the same way that the Bible does.

how many times have leaders been assasinated in the name of allah? surah 8:39 says, "and fight them until there is no more fitnah (other religions) and the religion will be for allah alone. but if they cease, then certainly, allah is all-seer of what they do." tell me that isn't a foundation for starting a war?
Religion can always be pervereted to serve devious political agendas. It really does not matter what religion.

some of you guys are just clueless. in 1997, clinton received word that hussein wasn't complying with the un resolution to remove his wmd. clinton thought it would look like he was starting a war to take the heat off his scandals so he neglected to do anything.
Not to mention the fact that nobody wanted a war.

when terrorists bombed the embassies in tanzania and kenya, clinton did what? he sent a couple of million dollar missiles to blow up a couple of ten dollar tents. i bet those terrorists were having a good laugh at that.
They missed Osama by half an hour in one instance.

when they bombed the uss cole, clinton thought maybe if we just let it go, they'd forget. they forgot alright. then i guess in '01 they remembered again.
President Clinton told us that before he could launch further attacks on al Qaeda in Afghanistan,or deliver an ultimatum to theTaliban threatening strikes if they did not immediately expel Bin Ladin, the CIA or the FBI had to be sure enough that they would "be willing to stand up in public and say, we believe that he [Bin Ladin] did this." He said he was very frustrated that he could not get a definitive enough answer to do something about the Cole attack.137 Similarly, Berger recalled that to go to war, a president needs to be able to say that his senior intelligence and law enforcement officers have concluded who is responsible. He recalled that the intelligence agencies had strong suspicions, but had reached "no conclusion by the time we left office that it was al Qaeda."
                    From Here

Oh I am entertained quite frequently by the nonsense on this board to which I must reply.

and yea, jihad doesn't actually appear in the quran; it's jihadu in arabic and it appears 33 times.

our policy is supporting governemnts against anti-government sects. just as israel is condemned by islam for representing judaism, the US is condemned for representing christianity. the US is being targeted because of US support towards israel against palestinian fundamentalists who want to make israel an islamic state under islamic law. the quran calls jews "monkeys and pigs."

rahman came to the US and reported back to bin laden about the alcohol and pronography that was rampant here. it doesn't conform with islamic fundamentalist beliefs.

they are crazy, but what they are buying into is not just a couple of looney leaders, but a book that is several centuries old. when rahman was tried, he used actual information in the quran to justify his actions in the assassination of sadat in egypt. he was set free. he's now in prison for leading the '93 bombing on the world trade center.

Stefan, why don't you take your concerns about the government to your congressman and complain to him? I'm sure you could get alot further that way, instead of causing havoc on this board.

How would you feel if someone took over your office building, with you and all those "busy" people with cell phones glued to their ears. I'm sure you were wishing there were more "pointless" homeland security guards on the street to catch those guys before they did harm to anyone.

When the terrorist took over that school in Russia, Alot of inocent children and adults were killed and injured. What stops that kind of horrible acts from happening here? I think it's called homeland security.

I'm sure if you knew how many times people get caught by a police officer before they do something horrible, you would think differently. I have been out on ride alongs with my dad, which is a cop, and catch people doing something stupid when we're in a parking lot smoking or eating.

would you run a red light if you see a cop at the intersection? I don't believe you would. When you see "security" just standing around talking, they are still doing there job. They are showing their presence.

What makes you think those "feds" are government employess anyways? They could have been hired by the company that owns your building to protect that nice big office building from someone vandalizing it?

I think you worry to much and need to take a giant bong rip to calm your nerves, I can even come out there and smoke you out if you want...
