The only thing I have to say is in regards to this:
"3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense."

I don't know about ALL women, but my roommate turns into the BIGGEST ***** ON EARTH. If you can't tell when they're on their period.. you've probably got mental health issues to deal with.

oh and :crybaby:

edit - look at the home page:

If that isn't a biased viewpoint... I don't know what is.

I dont think the bias of the writer is the question - its the points he makes about the prohibitions made in the Bible that we pick and choose to follow.

I think the bias of the writer can be applied to those scriptures.

What bible version did he use? He doesn't say in the article you posted... how are we to know those are even correct?

I decided to pull out my handy dandy Bible, and read up on these passages. Keep in mind that these were set down upon Moses, as rules for the Hebrews after they left Egypt. Since this is all in the Old Testament, mainly right after God freed the Hebrews from Egpyt, He was layinng down rules for a new society. After Jesus died for our sins, as long as you accept Him as your Lord and Savior, any sins that you have done, and may do, will be forgiven. These are Jewish rules, so the questions should be addressed to Jewish people. Christianity didn't even come around until after Jeses was born. In the sections of the Bible that these rules were being written(all of the Old Testiment and a little of the New Testiment), we were referred to as Gentiles.

Just talked to my wife, who knows the Bible a little better. Jesus stated that the laws of Moses no longer applied. She's going to talk to her father (pastor), for the location in the Bible. I'll post it when I get it

1.) You're not allowed to touch the skin of a dead pig.
2.) You're to be stoned if you wear fabrics of two different color woven threads.
3.) You plant two different crops side by side.
4.) You work on the Sabbith.

There are many other funny hypocracies in the bible that no one has yet been able to explain to me. If they use the excuse that it was in the old testament, that doesn't cover it for me, because people are still persecuting gays, and that was in the old testament as well.

The point that majesky makes is quite valid... so why do we pick and choose things out of the Bible to tell us whether its moral or not? Cant we use our own sense - instead of basing our every day lives on the literal text from 2000+ years ago?

What's funny about your argument is that the Bible doesn't say anywhere that you're suppost to persecute gays. That all came from people taking it out of context. Also, you have to remember that we were given free will, and the ability to choose not to do what God wants us to do. That was something that He wanted. For that reason, we will always be sinners. Because of that, a goo Christian will sin. It's not that big of a deal. That's why Jesus died. It's okay if we screw up in life, as long as we accept Him

Christians aren't suppose to persecute gays. If you studied the Bible, you would understand people are suppose to love the person, and hate the sin. The Bible teaches that people aren't suppose to judge people, that's God's job.

Maybe one of these days people will realize that we have a slightly better understanding of the world around us then people did 3000 years ago??? Could that ever happen?

So how does that relate to Bush?
That he shouldn't have been elected Pres. in 04? Not 2004, just 04 :D

My last comment doesnt directly relate to Bush. The link, however, does - seeing as how he garners much support from folks who take the Bible as literaly as that link uses references. He himself is a "born again christian"

I should've clarified. I'm aware that it doesn't say to persecute gays, but when I go by churches that support gays and see Christian Coalitions waving signs like "fags will burn in hell" and such...

Not so much good Christians.

I should've specified that people take it out of context and persecute it. It's a sin. Everyone sins, big deal.

I couldn't agree with you more. majesky .
