Not so much good Christians.

I should've specified that people take it out of context and persecute it. It's a sin. Everyone sins, big deal.

I couldn't agree with you more. majesky .
I think you have seen the perfect example of how organized religion is not what it used to be

First off - it's old testament, doesn't apply here. It would be like taking Kerry out and burning him at the stake cause he lost the election. Some stuff we just don't do anymore. Old testament serves primarily as a historical guide for the new. Nice arguement though, kinda funny if I wasn't better educated.

Why is the bible such a threat to people? Even if you not a christian or believe in god, why is something that gives a good backdrop for MORAL OBLIGATION such a bad thing? Is it something about rules and authority? Even have been written 2000 years ago, it's not so much the letter of the law as it is the spirit behind it...

In my personal experience, as a child organized religion was about the religion.

There are many organizations now-a-days that have turned religion into a corporation.. on top of that, the people have changed. I have never been to a church like the one I went to when I was young, with people who didn't look down on you, etc..

I completely agree - however, unfortunately there are many... we call them fundamentalists, that dont. Thats what the article was about - not taking the Bible as word for word literal truth, but instead knowing what the spirit is behind what is being said.
