anybody here can correct me if im wrong but the purpose of a tt setup is: smaller turbo for low rpms off the line, then at a certain point in the rpms a larger turbo takes over for top end. i might be wrong but im pretty sure thats correct.

by the way kinetic. take a gander at shanes turbo. its a big F***ing turbo. and from the video i saw of it, once it spools up that b**** takes off.

                • What the ****? I am late to the show...

1st, Shanes supra is fast, not hanging on anyones nuts, I have seen it go down the track a few times, not gonna mention his times since he keeps it on the downlow.

2nd, What the **** is this talk, "its a race if you take the turbos off the supra, bull****" If you take the turbos off the supra, then lower the compression ratio of teh ls1 to match, then take a plasma cutter and cut off the difference in displacement and run.

3rd, Where is the vid of the white supra running 9.2s, daily driven?

4th, I love ls1s, but to say the supra is in NO way faster, you are either a backwoods redneck or fecking retarded.

5th the wieght of the supra and f-body are similar, and acutally the supra weighs more in most instances.

                  • You gotta admit though, stock for stock and for the money spent, a camaro with an LS1 is faster and thats at about 13k less...

Supra will own an LS1, just like any modded FI car will toast a modded N/A car. But with juice or boost, and LS1 would be a good match for the supra.

ZL1s make vipers and Z06s look like AMC Gremlins.

i'm with brink on this one... fartcan-toting ricers are no match for domestic muscle, especially at top-end.

a friend told me a guy he was riding with in FL once cruised at 160 down the freeway in a souped up '00 Eclipse Spyder, and a '96 Impala SS pulled next to him, smiled, and took off. Rice boy tried to catch up, but no dice. He then got off the freeway in shame.

                      moral of the story ... 8 > 6 .
Honestly I think I just became stupider reading this post.

the ZL1 concept, is basically a race built car... I mean a topfuel dragster is "stock" it came out that way. I love the car but to compare it to a stock street driven car is stupid. If I wasn't lazy I would go do a search and look up some supra concept, that put out crazy power like that as well. But was never sold.

Then you compared a '00 v6 eclipse convertable vs a impala SS? And say "american muscle always wins!"

Do the same race... 2004 EX v6 6-speed honda Accord vs. a v6 f-body convertable. Let see who wins.

                      • *raises hand* Once I finish up the rest of the work I'll have a car that'll run against the Supra. It's only a turd *** Firebird with a heavy *** big block.

And anyone whos raced before knows the cheapest way to be fast is the GM Small Block. The problem with Supras is that IRS which inhibits their ability to launch as compared to a live-axle rear car Why do you think so many of em are show cars and dyno queens? Because most of their owners cant drive em for ****. Im happy to see another person out there actually running theirs the way it should be (Shane)...

I agree, stock for stock, I'd put my money on a 6-speed ls1, I coudl see a stock supra taking out a ls1, but leaning more towards the ls1.

But if you get into money spent on mods... I'd lean towards the supra. YOu forget the supra motor handles boost like a mofo, all you spend money generally is turbo upgrades, fuel upgrades, and tuning.

Ls1 you are going to be spending alot of money upgrading the block and such and if you "turbo it" like many people mentioned you are going to have to do soem serious changes on the motor to be able to handle the boost without crapping out.

One of the reasons why the supra is still pretty expensive for a 10-12 year old car, is because it is such a good base to start off of and mod and race. Look at the price of Lt1s.

Sorry gotta disagree, I'd say the cheapest way to be fast is the Ford Small block... Mainly the 5.0.

                            • Nah, 5.0s -- yes they can be quick, but im talking across the board not just in mustangs.

In 5.0 mustangs you change gearing and free up the intake/exhaust. Gearing is what kills those cars.

But try the same in a 5.0 truck or 5.0 anything else and you wont get the same results.. 5.0 stangs, yes, are one of the cheapest ways to be fast.. But motor vs motor the cheapest way to be fast for horsepower and torque is a SBC..
