Whats the name of that wire I need to hook up my laptop up to my surround sound receiver? Can I just hook it into the big headphone jack on the front? How much it cost?

I want to play winamp on it

You can get a cable to connect your laptop headphone jack to RCAs on the reciever. That's how my system is set up in my room.

What he said, hit up walmart they have it, if not, Radioshack will definitley have it. Just get a wire, its like a headphone jack, that splits into the red/white, LEFT/RIGHT jacks.

I have mine hooked into the audio imputs jacks for a secndary TV device like a DVD player or vcr.

Works great, especially cool for parties.

          mini jack to RCAs

          http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...5Fid=12%2D2057

they have cheaper ones, I think the couple ones I got where like $7 each.
Then get a S-Vid out and use the TV as a monitor. Download MilkDrop plugin for WinAmp and go Full Screen. Its bad *** for the parties or when you're high!

No, you cannot just hook the headphone jack from your laptop into your stereo through the big headphone jack on your receiver.

Edit, MrCoffee summed up the rest before I had realized... But adding to his, go to Wal-Mart, you can buy a Magnavox brand wire for like 5-7 bucks. That 20 bucks is just ridiculous.

yeah don't buy the $20 one you can get it at walmart.

You might get distortion in the sound, I hear some don't but some do. I had distortion only when my computer and TV were hooked up together. I snagged a spare one of these from work and it worked great.

Which oddly enough comes with the wire you need(the little one), but you may or may not need the Ground loop isolator.
