  • Solstice - stealing dodges concept?

with all the talk and hype about the solstice and the upcoming saturn skye, does anyone remember back to 1997 and Dodges concept for the mini-viper: the Dodge Copperhead. A small, 2 seat roadster with a modest 2.7L v6 in the 220HP/180Tq range, clamshell hood and overall styling definately more dodge-like, but strikingly simialar to the solstice?

I don't think it's even that close. Besides, that front end looks hideous.

I have a picture of that concept car in one of my calendars.

IDK. Aside from the dash, I really like the lines of the copperhead. I just thought it is a bit amusing that with the number of concepts that Chrysler brings into production, that GM went forward with a concept car that is simialar to one that Dodge had revealed, then abandoned.

Yeah how do you steal a design when yours comes out first?

And that looks more like a viper, the solstice is so very pontiac looking and the Sky looks like a cadillac

reeeediculous.. Just because its a roadster doesnt mean it was stolen.. haha.. If thats the case, the S2000, Thunderbird, Miata, etc etc.. they're all stolen ideas..

By the way. It's already June, shouldn't the Soltice be out now? According to the Apprentice, they would have it out the first day of the summer.

Or, did they push it up to January?

I think they started to wheel out a few of them, took a bunch of orders, then put them on hold until next winter/spring when the Sky comes out too. Dont know what the problem was, though.

They are going to start shipping them in October. They said they were working out the last of the quality issues because they didn't want to release the car and have a stack of recalls to fix things.
