Keep in mind.... there are MANY other factors involved with this!

10 second car going for 9's.
NO FIRE SUPPRESSION system in vehicle!
    PLASTIC fuel cell used!

Nitrous backfire started it.... all the other issues with the car finished it!
Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6
    nitrous et & mph: 12.168 & 110.95 mph, n/a 13.746 & 96.38 mph
    2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8: 12.125, 116.45
2010 Ford Taurus SHO: no times yet

That sucks. I was wondering why they were letting it burn, guess they needed a firehose to put it out.

Well, looks like that was an accident waiting to happen. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's OK but the guy seemed to have done everything wrong that he could possibly get wrong. Oh, and fire suits don't work when you have them draped around your ankles dude, pull up your pants. Driver=Tool.

For what its worth guys, I carry a mini extinguisher in my car...

I understand it wouldn't have helped this guy but...

I don't run a spare unless I travel a feww hundred mils, either way I keep a mini extinguisher in the slot between the antennae and the car, in the spare tire holder area.

It sucks to see your car burn up, and I have seen in person someones car catch fire and everyone just stand around dumbfounded because you are in a parking lot with no extinguisher.

best $8 at home depot I spent, imo...

Does anyone have the picture of a Firebird (funny car, I think) with tons of fire coming out from under the body? A few years old...

I bet it looked real cute towing that thing in to make a claim with the insurance agent.
