• Any digital camera gurus here?

Thinking of ordering a digital camera but I don't know a whole lot about them. Can you tell a difference in quality between a 6mp camera versus a 4mp camera? Which is the best deal for the money? THANKS for any help!! I've decided on one of these: (copy and paste)

6 megapixle:

4 megapixle:

Way overpriced!

Read the reviews of the 6 mp one. Seems to be rated really well. Plus you can get it cheaper than the other one. ;)

A thing I may suggest to look into. If you are interested into car pics.

1st definitely a camera with adjustable shutter speed
2nd good high speed capabilities
3rd good zoom(digital zooms tend to suck)
4th can do at least a few minute long videos, even at crappy quality.

also for big priced electronics, check out I forgot the site name but its one of those sites that you enter a brand name and model, and it searches hundreds of sites that sells it and lists the price, and also puts down opinions people had with dealing with the site, how many people purchase from them and if you are getting a new or remanufactured unit.

With the camara I got prices varied from $260-$420 off of different sites.

Same exact brand and model, no add ons or anything just the camara. I ended up getting it from some site called like www.4thstreetcamaras.com or something along the lines of that I forgot the name of that too

Well, the first thing I can tell you is that there is a whole hell of a lot more to digital camera image quality than the CCD dimensions (megapixel rating). There is CCD range and color responsiveness, and perhaps the most important factor, the non digital component. The lens.

Then you have to look at camera features. Does it let you snap and store uncompressed images? Does it handle low light situations well (this has traditionally been a severe fault when comparing digital to film photography).

Even some of the most high end CCDs will generate image artifacts in situations where you're shooting in a low light environment with any high intensity point light source in the frame. This usually manifests it's self as random solid red, green, or blue pixels randomly scattered across the image.

You need to read reviews of cameras you're interested in. Don't fall into the trap of "bigger is better" for megapixel ratings. There are endless dozens of 6 megapixel and higher cameras out there that produce images of far less quality than some of the higher end 4 and 5 megapixel cameras.

I prefer Olympus for digitals.

im pretty happy with my nikon. its the coolpix 775.. yah very old.. 2.1 megapixel.

It takes great pictures.. like infernal said its not all about the mp rating.. I bet some 3 mp take better pictures than some 6 mp cameras.. especially if its only 640x480 sized image. thats the only size picture i take on my camera and it comes out great.

Also if u'r getting into photography look for one that has macro mode. the quality up close in macromode is rediculous..

Definately look into one that has adjustable shutter speed.

Stay away from digital zoom, all it does is stretch the pixels to make thins look larger.. in the actual image it iwll come out ****ty quality.

optical zoom is the ****..

i can tell u now that after reading the revies of all thelinks above..

i'd go with

Kodak EasyShare Z700... what a great price too...

it all depends on how serious you are with photography...

I own this:

I like it because the lenses are interchangable with my Canon Rebel Film SLR.
