Are 315's on 17X11 ZR1s on a V6 Overkill?

Im trying to decide to whether to go with 17x11 Zr1's on the back with 315 tires. Or with match what I will have on the front, the 17X9.5 with 275 tires.

I kinda feel like the only reason to get 315 on 11in wide rims is just for braggin rights, and they would look cool. The are only minimally wider, and probably overkill on a lighly modded V6.

It would be cool to say, "Yep those are some fat tires, ahem..those are 315's"

They will look bad-***....but yes, overkill. Probably wont be able to light 'em up. Oh welll....

I notice that fat wheels on the back of the Firebird looks great, especially if you are looking at it from the rear. Ofcourse there will be more parasitic HP lost.

Off Topic:

Sounds like you're not trading your car for an MR2 anymore. You seem to be looking at turbo and tires now.

That's good! You're car is way better looking than an MR2, and most cars here for that matter. You'll have deep regret if you do. Besides, that MR2 looks kinda girly.

My Girlfriend talked me out of it. For two reasons:

The car is less safe than my car.
And she thought it was to girly.

So instead of trading in my car, I decided with my g/f help, just to fix my car. And to fix it with performance parts :D

Im getting my tranny rebuilt, but its not going to be a OEM tranny when its done. :D

Im looking at that same combination. Biggest problem is the slim pickings of tire choices for a 315.

Will a 315 HTRZ summer only tire ever come close to giving you the off the line traction of a smaller G-force T/A Drag Radial on 8" rims?

Jeff, shoot me an e-mail. I got some 5 stars and axles with your name on them if you want it. I just need to get them out of the garage.

Your gas mileage will suffer with that big of tire too...
That's a lot of damn beat for such a little guy! LOL

Jeff's packin the big meat... damn tripod.

That will look awesome tho. I wouldn't get ZR1s though, I'd get some C6 rims :D I Love them.

I think 315s are a bit overkill...

but they would look sweet, I mean my 275s can be a little rough at times. I suggest 17X9.5s all 4 corners, and 285/40/17 all for corners, easy to rotate, and they are only "slightly" more expensive then 275/40/17

Why couldn't it be done, I had that size on my 18's, looked sweet.

On topic, 315's i think are overkill and pretty expensive. You just want them for looks or what?
