• Mod expenses...

Hi, I'm working on my list of EVERYTHING I want for me car, and totaling the prices on everything.. Wow.. I got everything I want written and added up, and it's $13,329.14.. That's not including taxes, and labour to get things put in. Lets see... I'm going to school to be a Paramedic, they make around $9.30 and hour here, thats..... $32,140.80 a year.. This is going to take me FOREVER.. and thats not even including the LT1 I want... hahah

So my question, for those with completed cars.. What was the price range you spent on your cars?

Alright.. half way done? just getting started... Is what I have like.. outrageous, or just right? I'm 18, a female, and I change my mind alot, will more than likely get all that, and then change my mind on it..

If you tend to change your mind a lot, do the mods you're going to be able to enjoy while driving. Take me for example, I don't get to drive the Regal everyday since premium's getting expensive and I want to save cash. So, for my Neon my biggest gripe was the mushy stock shifter. For $62 including shipping I was able to get a short throw shifter and harder durometer bushings at all ends of the shifter linkage. Driving's much more fun now and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. If I get rid of the Neon, I'm not out a bunch of cash. Just make a list of mods, and put them in an order of priority. Just my $.02...

EDIT: Oh, and I hope in your list of mods is the purchase of a shop manual so you can learn how to fix/mod your car yourself... it'll save you a bunch of cash!

I'm lucky if my wife lets me spend $100 on the car. I've been reduced to only doing upgrades when the car needs a replacement part (gatorback belt, msd plug wires, etc.).

Me? fix/mod myself? hahahaha I'd break the darn car. I do tend to change my mind alot.. But what I have gotten down on the list so far is stuff I KNOW I want. like Racing stripes... turbo... etc. For the most part right now, most is just appearance mods. I dont wanna mod anything else till drag strip opens, which could be awhile, so will give me a chance to save the money up.

If you're going to get an LT1, why bother with a measly 3.4?

Save your money. You have to pay for college still.

Plus. With $13k, you can get a beautiful LS1 with low miles and still get good gas mileage with a T56.

EDIT: And the LS1 will still be faster than your V6 after all that money.

My car is nowhere near completed and its already engulfed more than $20,000(including intial purchase of car) I really don't want to think about how much more it will take to "finish" (there's always something else to do to it)

Mine's nowhere near finished but then again including the price of car I'm only up to like $12k.
EDIT: I recalculated and I'm really only at 10k.

Ok, then mine isnt that bad. heh, and thats just the things I want now, and that is well over what was spent on the car. The car was $6,000, but it's paid for I don't have a car payment, or insurance to pay (not in my name until I finish school) I've spent around 1,000 on it already since I got it on Christmas Eve
