a FEW UNKNOWN 3rd gen IROCS had 350s and 5-speeds. they are EXTREMELY rare and it is only a rumor that they exist to begin with.
do your homework, check numbers, etc. before you dive headfirst into it.
facts:
first IROC rolled off the floor in 1985.
first "production" year for a 350 IROC was 1987.
it is rumored that some (50 is what i see most often) 86's had 350s.
my '86 had a 305 which i replaced with a lightly built 350.
it is rumored that some IROCs (50 again) were built with T5 5 speeds.
IROC production stopped in 1990 when the "IROC" rights were sold to dodge, which then produced the IROC daytonas.
honey if you buy that car you are extremely incompetant. 5000 is WAAAAAY to much for a 3rd gen. you could get an lt1 for that much with the same miles if not less. Come on be reasonable. The 3rd gens are NOT worth it. I've owned one, and it was a dog compared to my 2001 firebird GT.
if it really is a true 5 speed L98 IROC I'd still say that's too much if nothing else because of the mileage. At this point it's too high mileage to be a real collector item without a full restoration. Even then it will be years I'd say 10+ before it might be worth something. Now if you just want a playtoy and it was cheaper I'd say go for it. L98's are fun and there is an awesome aftermarket for them.
